Motorola’s new Razr 2026 series is at the center of criticism with its three-year Android update support, despite its increasing prices.
Although Motorola’s new Razr 2026 family attracted attention with its hardware and price features in the foldable phone market, it brought about discussions about software support.
Although the Razr, Razr Plus and Razr Ultra models were released with the Android 16 operating system, the three-year support limit continues to be maintained on the main Android version update.
The company has been following a stable software policy for the Razr series in recent years. Since the Razr 2023 series, there have been three major Android version updates and four years of security updates for the devices.
Update Support and Price Increase
The new Razr 2026 family comes to users with three different options, from the standard model to the Ultra version. All of these devices come out of the box with Android 16, but on the long-term software support side, the three main version limits do not change.
On the pricing side, there is a significant increase compared to previous generations. The standard Razr 2026 model is offered for sale in the US market with a price tag of $ 799.
The price for Razr Plus 2026 is $ 1,099, and the price for Razr Ultra 2026 is $ 1,499. Compared to the previous generation, there is a price increase of $100 for the standard and Plus models and $200 for the Ultra model. The fact that Android update support remains at the same level despite increasing prices triggers software life discussions among users.
Hardware Innovations and Software Conflict
The Razr 2026 family includes significant improvements on the hardware side. While improvements are being made for low-light performance in camera systems, titanium-supported hinge structure is used in some models.

Additionally, the Razr Ultra model includes a silicon-carbon battery with a capacity of 5,000 mAh. Large external screens, high refresh rate AMOLED panels and artificial intelligence-supported photo features are among the prominent innovations of the series in the Razr Plus and Razr Ultra models.
Motorola’s stance on software support presents a contradictory picture when compared to the company’s other models. The company confirmed that it would provide seven years of Android update support for Motorola Signature and Razr Fold models.
On the other hand, the fact that the Razr 2026 series, with prices ranging from $ 799 to $ 1,499, will receive only three major Android versions shows that software support is not spread equally across all high-end devices. This situation makes the competitiveness of the Razr series questionable not only in terms of hardware and design, but also in terms of software life.
