Microsoft’s New Monster: Surface Laptop Ultra with Nvidia RTX Spark Processor Introduced

Microsoft officially announced the Surface Laptop Ultra model, Nvidia’s new computer powered by RTX Spark, which offers 1 petaflop of artificial intelligence power, and features 128 GB of combined memory.

Microsoft is officially announcing the Surface Laptop Ultra model, its most powerful laptop that will once again break the cards in the hardware world. This special device, which appeared on the stage with the presentation held within the scope of Computex 2026, is powered by Nvidia’s revolutionary new superchip RTX Spark, designed specifically for Windows computers.

Focusing on content producers, software developers and engineers working with local artificial intelligence models, Surface Laptop Ultra leaves aside the experimental hinge designs of the past and stands out directly against the MacBook Pro models as a classic but extremely powerful workstation.

  • Nvidia RTX Spark Superchip:It combines 20 Arm-based process cores and 6,144 Blackwell architecture graphics cores under a single roof.

  • 1 Petaflop AI Computing Power:With its combined memory support of up to 128 GB, the device can run artificial intelligence models with 120 billion parameters locally, without the need for the cloud.

  • MiniLED Display Technology:The new 15-inch panel provides professional color accuracy by offering a peak brightness level of 2,000 nits in HDR mode.

Classic Form and High Mobility in Design

Microsoft does not use the detachable screen or movable hinge systems of the Surface Book or Surface Laptop Studio models released in previous years in this model. Seeing that users demand a more stable working experience, the company adopts the completely classic clamshell design. The body of the computer displays a dignified professional stance with its black and dark silver color alternatives.

On the weight side, Surface Laptop Ultra, which weighs less than 2 kilograms, does not push the limits of portability despite the high power it offers. There are strong connection points on the device that will reduce users’ dependence on external adapters.

These include high-speed USB-C ports, a USB-A port for classic accessories, HDMI for external display contact and a full-length SD card reader, which is especially vital for photographers and image producers. In addition, Microsoft offers the largest touch pad it has ever placed on a Surface model on this device.

What Do Nvidia RTX Spark and Blackwell Architecture Bring?

The real big change of the device takes place in the silicon architecture underlying the body. Designed from scratch in partnership with Microsoft and Nvidia, the RTX Spark superchip is based on a high-efficiency 20-core Arm-based central processing unit instead of x86 architecture.

The graphics unit accompanying this processor is based on Nvidia’s most advanced Blackwell architecture and contains 6,144 CUDA cores.

Borders Are Removing with Unified Memory Architecture

While graphics card memory and system memory are located separately in traditional computers, Surface Laptop Ultra offers a single combined memory pool that can be scaled up to 128 GB. This pool is dynamically shared between the processor and graphics unit when needed.

Thus, users do not encounter memory bottlenecks when processing huge 3D scenes exceeding 90 GB or editing 12K resolution image projects. The system fully runs professional engineering and graphics software thanks to full CUDA support.

The Era of Local Artificial Intelligence Without Internet and with Faith

The RTX Spark chip can produce a total of 1 petaflop of power in artificial intelligence-based processes. This high capacity makes it possible to process individual artificial intelligence assistants and complex data sets directly on the computer without uploading them to remote cloud servers.

Microsoft and Nvidia are integrating new security protocols and NVIDIA OpenShell technology into the Windows ecosystem to keep the security of these processes at the highest level. Since user data does not leave the device, full confidentiality is ensured and delay times are minimized.

Quiet and Efficient Operation Even Under Maximum Power

This chip, which brings the RTX 5070 class graphics performance found in desktop computers to a portable body, also follows a very aggressive efficiency policy in power consumption. The processor, which draws dynamic graphics from single-digit power consumption up to a maximum of 80W depending on the working load, promises an all-day battery life without straining the thermal design.

Thanks to the renewed internal architecture and acoustic engineering studies, the device continues to operate noiselessly even during the heaviest rendering processes.

On the screen side, the 15-inch MiniLED Ultra panel stands out. This screen, which has a dynamic refresh rate, can reach a peak brightness of 2,000 nits in HDR content. This supports clear visibility of the screen even in outdoor work under bright light.
