MediaTek Dimensity 9600M processor has been introduced. Details of the chip, which stands out with its 3 nm manufacturing process and advanced AI features, are here.
MediaTek has expanded its product range following the Dimensity 9600 Pro model by introducing the new MediaTek Dimensity 9600M processor. This new chip maintains a similar hardware infrastructure to the Dimensity 9500 while bringing significant innovations in software and artificial intelligence.
Manufactured using TSMC’s 3 nm N3P production process, the processor comes with an eight-core architecture consisting entirely of large cores. This structure, largely identical to the Dimensity 9500 in terms of hardware, aims for a high-performance user experience.
Technical Hardware and Artificial Intelligence Capabilities
The processor’s CPU architecture includes one Arm C1-Ultra core with 2 MB L2 cache, three Arm C1-Premium cores with 1 MB L2 cache, and four Arm C1-Pro cores with 512 KB L2 cache. The C1-Ultra core reaches a speed of 4.21 GHz, while the other cores operate at 3.5 GHz and 2.7 GHz respectively.
On the system side, there is 16 MB L3 cache and 10 MB system-level cache. In terms of memory support, 10.667 Mbps LPDDR5X modules and four limited UFS 4.1 storage units are used.
The graphics unit chosen is the Arm Mali-G1 Ultra MC12 GPU. Artificial intelligence processes are handled by the MediaTek NPU 990, which supports generative AI and agentic AI applications.
The new chip incorporates software features such as the Agentic AI Engine and Dimensity Scheduling Engine 3.0, announced with the Dimensity 9600 Pro. Current AI models such as the Gemini Nano 4 and Qwen 3.5 Omni 4B work fully compatibly with this processor.
The device offers 4K resolution text-to-visual generation, personalized functions, and camera monitoring support. To improve gaming performance, Dimensity Neural Graphics Architecture, dynamic data caching, and HyperEngine technologies work together.
Connectivity and Camera Features
In terms of connectivity technologies, a 3GPP Release 17 compliant 5G modem stands out. In sub-6 GHz networks, it is possible to achieve download speeds of 7.4 Gbps with 5CC carrier aggregation support.
On the wireless side, tri-band and five-stream Wi-Fi 7 support can reach speeds up to 7.3 Gbps. Thanks to Bluetooth 6.0 and dual Bluetooth engines, data transfer speeds of up to 12 Mbps are supported.
On the camera side, up to 320 megapixel image sensors are supported. Image recording can reach up to 8K resolution at 60 FPS, while 4K 120 FPS recording is possible with electronic scene stabilization.
On the display side, a 180 Hz refresh rate is offered at WQHD+ resolution. The three-port MIPI interface allows the use of three-fold screen designs.
In location services, GPS L1CA, L5 and L1C systems are supported, as well as BeiDou, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS and NavIC. AI-based signal analysis increases the accuracy of position determination.
The first phones with the Dimensity 9600M processor are expected to be released this quarter. The vivo X500 and Oppo Find X10 models are among the first devices to use this new chip.
