WhatsApp is rolling out the Liquid Glass design for its iOS image player. All the information about the new progress bar and modern interface details is here.
WhatsApp has started rolling out the highly anticipated Liquid Glass design language for its video player on the iOS platform. This innovation, implemented with WhatsApp beta version 26.39.10.70, gives the video player’s progress bar a modern and semi-transparent look. Fully aligned with the design standards introduced with iOS 26, this update aims to strengthen the overall visual integrity of the application.
This new interface element, which has started to reach certain beta users via TestFlight, offers a stylish glass-like aesthetic in both light and dark mode options, taking the user experience to a more immersive level.
Video Player Appearance is Being Renewed
WhatsApp has largely completed the process of making various areas within the application compatible with Apple’s new design language. Following the changes previously made to the chat list, navigation bars, and notification bubbles, it’s now the video player’s turn.
This new approach, moving away from traditional design lines, transforms the progress bar into a semi-transparent, rounded-edge element floating at the top of the screen. This allows the content viewing process to better align with the app’s contemporary identity.
Design Change Covers All Platforms
The company is not limiting this visual update to iPhone users only. Developers are also integrating the Liquid Glass aesthetic for iPad and Mac applications, aiming to create a visual connection between all Apple devices. The improvements previously made for iPad and Mac are now reinforced with this new arrangement on the image player. Users now encounter a more balanced viewing interface regardless of the device they are using.
The System’s Working Logic is Changing
The Liquid Glass design provides dynamic reflections, especially depending on lighting conditions. The progress bar, which appears as a white and semi-transparent layer in light mode, takes on dark tones when switched to dark mode, exhibiting a less tiring appearance for the eyes. Not only the progress bar, but also the control bar at the bottom of the screen has benefited from this redesign. These small touches give WhatsApp’s interface a more professional and aesthetic look.
Beta Process Progressing Gradually
This feature, currently only accessible via TestFlight, is not being rolled out to all beta users at once. WhatsApp is distributing this update gradually to minimize potential errors. If you haven’t seen any changes to the interface despite using the beta version, you will need to wait for a new update package to be released in the coming days. There is no definite date yet for the stable version.
