Storage and memory manufacturer Lexar has launched its new 32GB DDR5-7200 CL38 memory kit in the Chinese market. Priced at 3,999 yuan, approximately $592, this product is notable as a module from the second-generation Thor RGB series.

The product is equipped with sandblasted aluminum heatsinks and LEDs offering eight different RGB lighting effects. With 38-48-48-86 timing values ​​at 1.40V voltage, the kit supports both Intel XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO profiles.

Locally Produced DRAM and Compatibility List

While Lexar states that the modules use carefully selected domestically produced DRAM chips, it does not directly disclose the manufacturer’s name. Expectations in the market are focused on the possibility that these chips may have been manufactured by ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT).

The company has released a compatibility list of 43 motherboards for the new memory kit, covering Intel Z890, B860, and AMD B850 platforms. This list includes 30 Asus and 13 MSI motherboard models, but the absence of AMD’s X870 or previous generation chipsets is noteworthy.

Price Expectations and Market Situation

The introduction of CXMT-manufactured DDR5 chips had raised hopes that it would alleviate supply constraints and lower memory prices. However, the $592 price tag remains almost identical to similar products from brands like G.Skill, Corsair, and Kingston.

Corsair has started using CXMT chips in its well-known products such as the Vengeance series, while major manufacturers like HP and Dell are also approving these DRAM chips for their systems. It is known that other tech giants like Acer and Asus have also requested local memory chips from their Chinese manufacturing partners.
