Is OnePlus Not Fulfilling Its Warranty Obligations?

Is OnePlus Not Fulfilling Its Warranty Obligations?

It is claimed that OnePlus offers non-functional coupons instead of products under warranty in Europe. Details about users and legal process.

OnePlus users react to the company by stating that they receive dysfunctional coupons instead of product replacements under warranty. The two-year warranty period, which is mandatory within the borders of the European Union, is met with unexpected coupon offers for some users.

Users who make their voices heard on the Reddit platform share that they received coupons worth 100 Euros instead of replacing their products that are still under warranty. This situation especially victimizes users who experience malfunctions in products such as OnePlus Buds Pro 2 and 120W SuperVOOC fast charger.

Restrictions on the use of coupons offered in lieu of warranty

The company offers coupons instead of replacement, indicating that the products are no longer produced or are not in stock. However, users say that these coupons are almost useless in OnePlus’ online store.

Out of stock and the inability to combine coupons with existing discounted items make these offers practically invalid. In addition, these coupons, which are valid only in the online store and have a one-month validity period, cannot be used in physical stores or during repair processes.

One of the aggrieved users plans to file an official complaint by taking the situation to the European Consumer Center (ECC). If OnePlus was found to have violated European consumer laws, the company could face significant fines.

Stock shortages and strategy change in the global market

This situation in Europe is in line with OnePlus’ strategy to reduce its stocks in the global market. It is said that the company has started to withdraw from markets such as the USA and the UK and has shifted its focus to regions where it is strong, such as China and India.

Within the scope of this strategy change, major product launches such as Nord 6 and Pad 4 are expected to remain limited to certain geographies only. It is also among the claims that OnePlus plans to completely remove the OxygenOS software and bring its devices closer to OPPO’s software structure.

What do you think about this new approach taken by OnePlus in warranty processes?
