There has been an important development regarding the release date of Apple’s standard iPhone 18 model. Information from the supply chain indicates that the basic iPhone 18 model will be introduced in the spring of 2027, not in the autumn of this year.

Apple has been introducing its iPhone models at events held annually in September every year since 2011. However, it is said that this year the company will change its usual launch strategy.

Supplier Statements Confirm Strategy Change

Lin En-ping, the board leader of Largan Precision, one of Apple’s valuable suppliers, made remarkable statements at a recent shareholders’ meeting. Lin noted that a major US customer has postponed the launch of a new model until the first quarter of 2027.

Largan Precision is Apple’s primary supplier of iPhone camera lenses. Therefore, the postponement decision mentioned by Lin coincides with reports that the standard iPhone 18 model will not be included in the autumn launch.

Within the scope of Apple’s new strategy, upper segment models are planned to be introduced in September, and more affordable models are planned to be introduced in the spring of the following year. If this plan comes to fruition, the standard iPhone 18 model is expected to be released in early 2027, along with the iPhone 18e and iPhone 18 Air 2.

This new calendar means that, in addition to the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models, the iPhone Ultra, the company’s first foldable phone, will be introduced in the fall. With this gradual approach, the company aims to manage production resources more efficiently as its product range expands.

New Launch Calendar and Technical Details

Apple’s implementation of this strategy will be the first major departure in the classic launch cycle that has been going on since 2011. This change is planned to help maintain sales momentum throughout the year.

No major design changes are expected in the standard iPhone 18 models. It is stated that Apple will continue to use 6.3 inch screen sizes in the iPhone 18 model and 6.1 inch screen sizes in the iPhone 18e model.

On the other hand, it is predicted that the standard iPhone 18 model will come with 12GB of RAM and thus support advanced Siri features. This hardware increase will enable the device to have a more powerful onboard processing capability.
