Huawei officially introduced its new Huawei Mate 90 family, raising the bar once again in the flagship smartphone market, at a launch event in China. The series, consisting of four different models – Mate 90, Mate 90 Pro, Mate 90 Pro Max, and Mate 90 RS Ultimate Design – showcases its capabilities with domestically developed Kirin processors, screen brightness reaching 12,000 nits, a massive 6,800 mAh battery, and an external Z10 camera module focused on professional photography.
Huawei uses chipsets developed entirely in-house in the new series. The Mate 90 family features the Kirin 9030 , Kirin 9035, and the top-of-the-range Kirin 9050 Pro processors, depending on the model segment. The main model uses the Kirin 9030, the Pro model uses the Kirin 9035, and the Pro Max model uses the Kirin 9050 Pro. The new generation processors provide significant gains in both performance and power consumption stability, while the devices run the company’s new operating system, HarmonyOS 7.
On the display side, the standard Mate 90 and Mate 90 Pro models come with a 6.75-inch panel, while the Mate 90 Pro Max model offers a larger 6.9-inch display. These OLED displays, boasting a dynamic refresh rate of 1-120 Hz, can reach record peak brightness values of up to 12,000 nits regionally. The triple hole design at the top of the screen houses an advanced 3D facial recognition system that doesn’t compromise security.
