Huawei Mate 90 and Mate XT 2 Leaked: New Kirin Processor and 200 MP Camera Coming

Huawei Mate 90 and Mate XT 2 Leaked: New Kirin Processor and 200 MP Camera Coming

Details of Huawei Mate 90 and three-fold foldable Mate XT 2 models have been leaked. Devices equipped with the new Kirin 9050 processor and 200 MP camera are coming soon.

Despite embargoes, Huawei continues to make a splash in the technology world. According to recent leaks, the company is preparing for two major launches between September and October. The leading roles in these launches are the highly anticipated flagship Mate 90 series and the Mate XT 2, the successor of the world’s first three-layer foldable phone. Both devices are expected to be powered by Huawei’s own production Kirin 9050 chipset and switch to a huge 200-megapixel sensor on the camera side.

Mate 90 Series: New Threshold in Performance and Camera

Huawei Mate 90 series aims to take the brand’s traditional flagship line one step further. According to leaked information, the series will come with the Kirin 9050 processor. This new chipset represents the most advanced architecture that Huawei has been working on and offers serious improvements, especially in artificial intelligence processing capacity and energy efficiency.

On the camera side, Huawei carries the high resolution trend it started in the Pura series to the Mate 90. The 200-megapixel main sensor minimizes loss of detail while increasing low-light performance.

For comparison, it is a matter of curiosity what kind of software response Huawei will give to the 200 MP sensor technology used by Samsung in the Galaxy S24 Ultra model. The Mate 90 tries to set standards in mobile photography not only with resolution, but also with an improved version of variable aperture technology.

Mate XT 2: Second Screen in Three-Fold Design

Mate XT, the world’s first tri-fold foldable phone, created great excitement in the industry. Huawei matures this concept with Mate XT 2. The new model is expected to have a thinner body and a more durable hinge structure. On the display panel side, it is stated that the cooperation with BOE will continue and a panel with minimal folding marks will be used.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series, which is expected to be one of the biggest competitors of the Mate XT 2, has not yet put a three-layer design into mass production. In order to maintain its leadership in this field, Huawei plans to overcome the performance bottleneck experienced in foldable devices by using the Kirin 9050 processor in the Mate XT 2 model. It is also said that the battery capacity of the device will be increased to 5,500 mAh in order to meet the energy needs of the triple screen.

Kirin 9050 and Hardware Power

Kirin processors, which are the most important part of Huawei’s strategy to protect its ecosystem, enter a new era with Mate 90 and Mate XT 2.

Kirin 9050 will compete with its rivals Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Apple A18 Pro with its 5nm (7nm optimized according to some sources) manufacturing process. Although performance tests are not yet official, leaks show that the processor offers a 20% increase in multi-core performance compared to the previous generation.

Launch Calendar and Market Expectations

It is said that Huawei is considering two different scenarios for these two giant devices. According to the first scenario, Mate XT 2 will be introduced at the beginning of September, and the Mate 90 series will be introduced at the end of September.

The other possibility is that the Mate 90 will hit the scene in September and the Mate XT 2 in October. This also shows that it will be in direct competition with Apple’s launch of the iPhone 16 series.

The momentum gained by Huawei, especially in the Chinese market, attracts the attention of users in the global market as well. However, while the lack of Google services is being tried to be overcome with HarmonyOS Next, these strong moves on the hardware side are seen as an effort to prove the technological superiority of the brand.
