Honor will introduce its new smartphone, the Honor Robot Phone, at an event on August 12th. The device is particularly noteworthy for its retractable gimbal camera.

This special camera system is built on a 1/1.28-inch sensor with a 200-megapixel resolution and f/1.6 aperture. This mechanism, which moves with the help of micro-motors, offers image stabilization as well as various other usage possibilities.

Advanced Camera Capabilities and Hardware

The system can track individuals thanks to its facial recognition feature and can move to music. This technology, protected by numerous patents, stands out as the device’s most distinctive feature.

In addition to the main gimbal camera, the device has a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens on the back. This telephoto lens is supported by an f/2.6 aperture and a 1/1.4-inch sensor size.

The triple camera setup is completed by a 50-megapixel ultrawide-angle camera. Thanks to a collaboration with professional cinema camera manufacturer ARRI, the device offers Log-C and LUT support.

Special Chip and Technical Details

The Yuguang H1 chip, specially developed for the movable camera system, manages image processing. This chip powers the new generation scene stabilization engine called AIMAGE 2.0.

Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, the phone comes with a 6.4-inch 1.5K resolution 120Hz display. The device’s power requirement is met by a 6,000 mAh battery.
