Honor Magic9 Pro Max Unveiled in Venice

Honor Magic9 Pro Max Unveiled in Venice

Honor Magic9 Pro Max was introduced at the Venice Film Festival in collaboration with ARRI. Professional cinema technologies are coming to portable devices.

Honor showcased its innovations in cinematic portable imaging at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. As the official imaging strategic partner of the International Promotion Program for Chinese Films, Honor unveiled its new flagship Honor Magic9 Pro Max along with the world’s first Robot Phone.

Developed in collaboration with ARRI, the Honor Magic9 Pro Max made its debut at the Venice Film Festival. Featuring a striking moss green back, the model boasts the ARRI logo on its camera module, while the lens arrangement reflects the design language of one of ARRI’s most iconic cinema cameras.

Professional Cinematic Experience with ARRI

This collaboration between Honor and ARRI aims to make cinematic image production more accessible to a wider audience by bringing professional cinematic technologies to portable devices. ARRI’s renowned image science and essential elements of professional filmmaking workflows have been specifically adapted for use on a smartphone.

This allows content creators to offer greater flexibility during production while maintaining creative control throughout the entire post-production process. This collaboration supports cinematic content creation without sacrificing creative freedom by bringing elements of the professional film production workflow to a pocket-sized device.

For content creators, ARRI LogC3 ensures greater information is preserved in bright and shadowy areas for post-production. ARRI Wide Gamut 3 offers a wider color space, while ARRI Looks adds a professional touch to footage with controlled cinematic color styles.

Thanks to this collaboration, the Honor Robot Phone brings together ARRI LogC3, ARRI Wide Gamut 3, and ARRI Looks in a single device, supporting an integrated workflow from portable shooting to post-production. Combining Honor’s advanced portable imaging capabilities with ARRI’s over a century of legacy in cinematic imaging science, this collaboration opens up new creative possibilities.

Next Generation Content Production and Future Plans

As the collaboration progresses, Honor and ARRI will continue to refine integrated imaging technologies and workflows based on insights gained from technical validations and real-world cinema production applications. Honor is also preparing to bring cinematic imaging capabilities to a wider range of consumer devices.

The new Honor Magic9 series, initially scheduled for release in China at the end of September, will showcase ARRI imaging capabilities at a more advanced level. This series aims to redefine standards in the industry by bringing professional-level cinematic imaging to a new generation of portable users.

To date, the company has showcased the Robot Phone at leading film events around the world, including the 79th Cannes Film Festival, the 28th Shanghai International Film Festival, and the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. Filmmakers and industry professionals expressed their excitement about the new innovations in portable cinema production, while also appreciating the device’s technical maturity and professional-level capabilities.

Honor’s strategic move proves that portable devices can now become an indispensable tool in professional production processes. How do you think the fact that smartphones are now competing with cinema cameras will affect professional filmmaking?
