Google Home is taking a significant step to expand users’ smart home experience. Thanks to the addition of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to the platform, it is now possible to interact with different AI models, not just Gemini.

This new standard makes the control and monitoring of smart home devices much more flexible. With this initiative, Google allows users to combine their smart home information with various AI spyware.

The Google Home platform received a significant update last October with Gemini integration. The Ask Home feature included in this update allowed users to communicate with the application using natural language queries.

A New Era in Smart Home Management

Model Context Protocol is noteworthy as an open-source standard. This protocol enables AI models and chatbots to easily connect with applications and retrieve information.

Thanks to this development, users will be able to manage information on Google Home through different AI models such as Claude. Additionally, it will be possible to integrate other AI spy systems like Google’s Antigravity, OpenClaw, or Hermes into workflows.

Users will not only be able to control devices but also access cameras in the home. Monitoring smart devices and creating custom control panels are also among the capabilities offered by this system.

Google is now taking these capabilities to the next level. MCP support ensures that Google Home goes beyond being just an application and becomes a module of a broader AI ecosystem.

Access and Usage Details

This new MCP support for Google Home will be available in the coming weeks. The feature will initially be available only to users in the US as part of an early preview.

A Google Home Premium Advanced subscription will be required to take advantage of this new experience. Google states that it will share more details about the early preview process in the coming period.

The system will allow users to integrate their preferred AI models into smart home management. This offers significant flexibility for users seeking a personalized smart home experience.

Google’s move provides valuable insights into how smart home technologies will evolve in the future. Integration between different platforms and models could fundamentally change how users manage their homes.

The company announced that it will continue to share developments and new features related to this process. What do you think about the idea of managing your own smart home system with different AI spies?
