Apple agreed to pay $250 million in damages due to delays in Siri and Apple Intelligence features. Here are the details.
Apple reached a $250 million settlement in a class-action lawsuit over the delay in Apple Intelligence features and Siri’s promised capabilities. This opens the door to compensation for iPhone users who expect these features but cannot find them on their devices.
Users can receive payments of up to $95 per device. The amount of compensation will vary depending on the total number of users applying compensation.
Compensation process and eligibility criteria
The case alleges that Apple marketed artificial intelligence capabilities that did not yet exist and encouraged consumers to buy iPhones with misleading advertisements. Complainants argue that a reasonable expectation has been created that these features will be available with the launch of the iPhone.
To receive compensation, users must have purchased an Apple Intelligence compatible iPhone model between June 10, 2024 and March 29, 2025. This scope includes iPhone 16 series, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models.
Applicants are required to purchase their devices within the United States. Rights holders will be able to get involved in the process by providing evidence of device purchase, such as serial number, Apple account information or mobile phone number.
Apple plans to open invitations to apply within 45 days from May 5, 2026. The payment amount, which was initially determined as 25 dollars per user, can go up to 95 dollars if the number of applications remains low.
Apple Intelligence and future prospects
Introduced at the World Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2024, Apple Intelligence aimed to bring advanced contextual awareness and in-app capabilities to iPhone models.

However, the delay of many of these features has created a disconnect between Apple’s marketing strategies and the user experience.
In its statement on the subject, the company stated that they have offered dozens of new features in many languages and platforms since the launch of Apple Intelligence. Apple states that this agreement is a step taken to focus on offering innovative products to its users.
Industry analysts agree that Apple Intelligence lags behind its Competitors such as ChatGPT and Gemini. The delayed Siri features are planned to be offered to users with iOS 27, which is expected to be introduced at the WWDC event to be held on June 8.
This development is seen as a critical turning point for Apple to regain the ground it lost in the competition in the field of artificial intelligence. It is said that if Apple cannot fully deliver the features it promises, this $ 250 million compensation that the company faces may be just the beginning.
