Primate Labs introduced Geekbench 7, the new version of the well-known performance measurement tool Geekbench, to users today. The new version aims to reflect daily usage scenarios, gaming performance and contemporary workloads more realistically.

The spread of artificial intelligence and machine learning applications in the technology world has made it necessary to update hardware tests. Keeping up with this change, Primate Labs has comprehensively overhauled its tests that measure processor and graphics unit performance.

Advanced GPU and Multi-Core Performance Tests

Geekbench 7 includes new workloads focused on machine processing and content production, especially on the GPU side. These tests include modern missions such as real-time image filtering, landscape scaling and background blurring in image conferencing applications.

Graphics unit tests now include advanced processes such as RAW image processing, LUT-based image color editing, ray tracing and fluid simulation. In addition, the software started to support Nvidia’s CUDA platform in addition to OpenCL, Vulkan and Metal support.

A significant change has also been made in multi-core performance measurements. Primate Labs states that tests now use multi-threading only in accordance with the working logic of real-world tasks.

In this context, applications that mostly run single-core, such as web browsers, are no longer included in the multi-core test suite. On the media performance side, new tests such as screen sharing with AV1 codec, audio compression with Opus codec and live subtitle creation with Whisper model have been added to the system.

More Comprehensive Datasets and User Options

With Geekbench 7, the size and diversity of the data sets used in the tests have also been increased. Document compression testing now covers a wider range of archives, such as source codes, object codes and text documents.

The PDF viewer test includes more diverse document types, such as technical documents, academic articles and maps. Developer and landscape workloads have also been updated with more assets and different document formats.

To celebrate the release of the new version, Primate Labs is offering a 20 percent discount on the Geekbench 7 Pro version until August 6. The standard version continues to be offered free of charge for personal users.
