Galaxy S25+ Catches Fire While Charging: Samsung Denies Responsibility

Galaxy S25+ Catches Fire While Charging: Samsung Denies Responsibility

Samsung refused to pay compensation for the Galaxy S25+ model that caught fire while charging in China. The incident, which was claimed to be user error, increased safety concerns in the Galaxy S25 series.

A Samsung Galaxy S25+ belonging to a user in China suddenly caught fire while charging overnight. Residents woke up to the sound of an explosion and the smell of smoke, and upon realizing the device was on fire, managed to extinguish the flames themselves.

Fortunately, no injuries occurred. The damaged device was sent to an authorized service center in South Korea on August 5th for necessary inspections. On August 12th, Samsung rejected the compensation claim, arguing that the battery problem stemmed from damage caused by a previous fall. This development has brought the safety debates surrounding the Galaxy S25 series back to the forefront.

  • Samsung attributed the battery fire in the Galaxy S25+ model to user-caused damage from a drop.
  • The company officially refused to pay compensation under warranty.
  • Several other fire incidents have been reported in the Galaxy S25 series recently.

Samsung Blames User

As a result of a technical examination conducted by Samsung officials, it was claimed that the damage seen on the device’s casing damaged the battery, causing a fire during charging. The company argues that the user dropped the device, and this impact caused structural damage to the battery cells. Therefore, the company refused to accept liability for compensation, arguing that the incident was not due to a manufacturing defect.

The user, however, argues that the physical damage to the device occurred after the fire and does not accept Samsung’s report.

Official Reports Unavailable

The device owner does not find the explanations provided by Samsung credible and argues that the damage to the back cover may have actually been caused by the force of the battery explosion.

Although the user requested a detailed technical report and legal support documents for the refusal of compensation from the company, Samsung refused to share these documents. This lack of transparency significantly damaged the user’s trust in the brand.

Similar Incidents Recurring in Galaxy S25 Series

This fire incident with the Galaxy S25+ device is not the only example raising concerns about the reliability of the series. Previous records show similar charging-related fire incidents in another Galaxy S25+ device in October 2025 and another S25+ model in January 2026. Furthermore, a similar incident with the Galaxy S25 FE model in May has increased concerns among users about whether there is a chronic problem with the devices’ battery management systems.

These recurring incidents are causing Samsung’s quality control processes to be questioned.

Do you think Samsung should investigate user claims more thoroughly in these types of incidents? If you encountered a similar situation, what legal course of action would you take against the brand? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section.
