RØDE, known for its professional audio equipment, has officially announced its new studio arm RODE LPA1, focusing on one of the biggest problems for video podcast producers and live broadcasters: obscuring the camera angle. Unlike classic boom arms, the RØDE LPA1 stands out with its low-profile design, keeping the microphone just below the camera’s field of view, providing a clean framing, and boasting a 2-kilogram carrying capacity, making it the brand’s strongest studio arm to date.

Low-Profile Design and Flexible Movement Range That Doesn’t Obstruct the Frame

In live broadcasts or scenic podcast recordings, standard microphone arms often obscure the speaker’s face or the background. The RØDE LPA1, with its low-profile body running parallel to the desk, directs the microphone below chest level, leaving the camera’s field of view completely unobstructed. Made entirely of metal, the studio arm stands out not only for its robust construction but also for its mobility.

Offering a 750 mm reach in the horizontal plane, the model can move 90 degrees up and 60 degrees down vertically. Thanks to its 360-degree axis rotation and the ball-mount at the head, you can raise the microphone above desk level as well as lower it up to 200 mm below desk level. When folded, the arm is only 367 mm long and 150 mm high, taking up very little space on the workbench when not in use.

High Load Capacity and Wide Equipment Compatibility

With a load capacity of 2 kg, the RØDE LPA1 comfortably carries dynamic microphones such as PodMic, PodMic USB, Procaster and Broadcaster, as well as heavy studio-type large-diaphragm condenser microphones such as the NT1 series. No drilling is required for table mounting; it comes with a robust clamp system that can be secured to tables up to 70 mm thick.

Thanks to the 1/4 inch, 3/8 inch and 5/8 inch threaded adapters included in the box, the arm serves as a practical carrier not only for microphones but also for compact cameras, overhead lights or external monitors weighing less than 2 kg. To prevent cable clutter, the product features 4 special cable clips that can secure both thick XLR and thin USB cables.

Price and Release Date

Aimed at simplifying the desk system for content creators, the RØDE LPA1 is initially available in black for $129. A white variant is expected to be available in the coming period.
