Microsoft unexpectedly made huge increases in Xbox Game Pass subscription prices last year. This 50% increase decision, which caused prices to exceed 900 TL in Türkiye, was met with significant reactions in the gaming world.

Following these developments, Xbox management made a significant change and new CEO Asha Sharma took the seat. With Sharma’s appointment, the company reviewed its pricing strategy and reduced subscription prices.

The Balance Sheet of the Raise Decision Has Been Announced

Xbox Chief Strategy Officer Matthew Ball met with Geoff Keighley, one of the well-known names in the gaming world, and evaluated the increase process in 2025. In his statement, Ball clearly revealed the effects of the price increases on the company.

According to the information shared by Geoff Keighley on the X platform, Xbox lost millions of subscribers following increases of up to 50% last year. While users showed their repercussions by canceling their subscriptions, this caused the company to lose millions of dollars in both the number of subscribers and revenue items.

The new management, led by Asha Sharma, began the process of restructuring the Xbox brand following these losses. Adopting a player-oriented approach, the new administration has developed strategies aimed at bringing back the old Xbox experience.

New Pricing and Strategic Change

The company withdrew the high prices that attracted reaction and moved the subscription packages to more accessible levels. According to the new price list, the Game Pass Essential package is offered to users at prices starting from 269 TL.

In other packages, Premium subscription is 409 TL, Ultimate subscription is 529 TL and PC version is 419 TL. The new strategy aims to regain players’ faith in the brand.
