Computers with HarmonyOS Operating System Are Coming

Huawei is launching its high-security corporate desktop computers with the HarmonyOS operating system, developed for the business world, in September.

Huawei is taking a game-changing step towards expanding its own technology ecosystem.

Following its significant success in the smartphone and tablet market, the technology giant, which has set its sights on the business world, is introducing its commercial desktop and laptop computers, which are powered entirely by the HarmonyOS operating system it developed, in September.

This official announcement, made by Tablet and PC Product Group President Zhu Dongdong at the recently held Huawei Developer Conference (HDC 2026) event, shows the final point of the company’s efforts to create an alternative to Western operating systems.

Huawei, which is no longer just towards consumer electronics and has moved the corporate branch where security is more important than anything else, is building an independent and reliable computer experience for companies.

Remarkable Vision at HDC 2026: HarmonyOS Office

HarmonyOS Office session, one of the most popular events at Huawei’s developer conference, offers striking clues about the brand’s computer vision.

Speaking at the event, Zhu Dongdong stated that the new desktop computers are aimed directly at commercial organizations and large companies rather than standard residential users. The company is planning a large-scale trial period before the big launch in September.

Thus, corporate customers have the opportunity to test new devices at an early stage in their own powerful work environments.

This move is considered a turning point for Huawei, which has been using classical operating systems in the computer market despite producing its own hardware for many years.

Most of the businesses in the Chinese market are looking for an ecosystem that reduces external dependency, has high data security and communicates within itself without any problems. HarmonyOS promises to fill this gap and provide a secure information processing infrastructure that is completely closed to external interventions.

Not Just a Computer, a Fortress of Security

New desktop systems have clear hardware differences from standard computers sold in technology stores. These devices, which must comply with the strict data protection standards of the business world, come with a special hardware security chip integrated directly into the motherboard.

S. Thanks to the zero-latency deployment feature, companies’ information process (IT) departments can automatically apply all security elements and company settings remotely as soon as the devices come out of the box.

This integration greatly reduces the time spent on device installation.

Power and Elegance Together with HM740

The HM740 model, one of the most powerful portable computers that Huawei has added to its enterprise hardware series, provides a concrete example of what this new commercial vision looks like in the field.

This laptop model runs on the corporate HarmonyOS version; It has a very light body of only 14.5 mm thick and 1.32 kg. Despite its slim structure, the device provides a great battery life of up to 21 hours on a single charge.

It also carries a 14.2-inch high-end OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

The real magic of the device is implicit in its software isolation capabilities. Huawei uses a special field technology in this model that can be switched instantly with a four-finger swipe gesture.

In this way, users can completely isolate both their individual use areas and corporate work environments from each other on the same hardware. Hardware security measures at the lower layer ensure that company data does not leak to another area or outside.

Towards a Completely Independent Operating System

With commercial desktop computers to be released in September, Huawei is fully bringing the HarmonyOS ecosystem to large screens after phones, watches and tablets.

Analysts predict that the brand’s HarmonyOS-based computer shipments will achieve significant growth before the end of 2026. Although the exact hardware features or price tags of the new devices remain a mystery for now, it is clear that Huawei has taken the competition in the technology market to the next level.

It is eagerly awaited to see what impact these new generation desktop systems will have on the global market in the coming years.
