Commodore, in collaboration with CD Projekt Red, has unveiled a special edition Commodore 77 Cyberpunk 2077 model to technology enthusiasts. This new device not only offers a visual design change but also includes significant improvements in hardware.

This creation, the first hardware collaboration with a gaming brand in Commodore’s 68-year history, brings the atmosphere of the Cyberpunk 2077 cosmos to the retro computer world. Company officials state that this collaboration is based on art imitating life and that they hope the residents of Night City will enjoy using their new terminals.

Powerful Hardware and Cyberpunk Aesthetics

One of the most striking design elements of the device is the brushed metal plate located on the right side of the keyboard. This aesthetic choice, completely departing from the classic beige color of the original Commodore 64, offers a look that is in harmony with the neon-lit world of the Cyberpunk cosmos.

Significant improvements have also been made to the technical infrastructure of the Commodore 77. Instead of the AMD Xilinx Artix-7 XC7A50T processor used in the standard C64U model, the higher-end Artix-7 XC7A100T processor has been chosen for this special edition.

This new processor offers twice as many logic units and twice as much block RAM capacity compared to the previous model. In addition, this hardware, which has wider I/O options, significantly increases the performance capacity of the device.

According to the official press release, the device can reach speeds of 77 MHz thanks to the new FPGA architecture. This represents a huge performance leap compared to the 1 MHz processor speed of the brand new Commodore 64.

LEDs placed behind the smoky and semi-transparent base on the back of the device dance to music, creating a visual spectacle. This lighting system integrates with the device’s Cyberpunk-themed BASIC 2.0 boot screen and customized menu colors, promising a unique user experience.

Box Contents and Sales Details

The 2MB special demo cartridge included with the Commodore 77 offers content developed by the Polish C64 demo group Arise and supported by music from LukHash. This demo utilizes the C64U’s 24-channel stereo SID chip music capabilities to the fullest, providing an impressive auditory experience.

The product’s box contents are also quite impressive. In addition to themed packaging specially prepared for collectors, a neon power light, various stickers, badges, and a spiral-bound user manual containing details about the game’s world are also included in the box.

Special Cyberpunk 2077-themed BASIC programs are also offered to users. All these elements are brought together as part of Commodore’s mission to uphold its software heritage.

The Commodore 77 is available for pre-order today with a prestigious price tag of $377. Shipping is planned to begin in early 2027.
