Coming to Rival Unreal and Unity

Coming to Rival Unreal and Unity

Former Epic Games executive Arjan Brussee announced The Immense Engine, a new game engine based in Europe and supported by artificial intelligence.

Arjan Brussee, one of the experienced names in the gaming world, is working on a new game engine that will rival giant platforms such as Unreal Engine and Unity. This new project, called The Immense Engine, aims to provide a completely European-based infrastructure.

Brussee, who was previously one of the founders of Guerrilla Games and served as Unreal Engine product management director within Epic Games, announced his project in the De Technolog podcast. It is stated that this new initiative will be fully compatible with legal regulations in Europe.

A New Alternative in European Standards

The Immense Engine not only focuses on game development processes, but also promises a structure that complies with Europe’s local rules and guidelines. This feature may make it easier for the engine to be preferred in 3D simulation projects, especially in areas such as the defense industry and logistics.

This engine, which will be hosted in Europe and built by European developers, is also an option for digital transformation projects of government institutions. Local governments in Japan are starting to use game engines in urban planning and civil engineering projects, which is in line with Brussee’s vision.

The main purpose of the project is to offer a European alternative in the market dominated by American or China-based giants such as Unreal and Unity. The engine, which is still under development, is expected to specialize in large-scale 3D world representations.

Artificial Intelligence Supported Development Process

Arjan Brussee plans to actively use artificial intelligence agents in the development of the new game engine. He states that this approach will allow achieving big things with small teams by using human resources more efficiently.

Brussee states that when the right framework of AI agents is established, a workload of ten or fifteen people can be managed by a single team. Although it is certain that artificial intelligence will be used during the development phase of the engine, it is not yet clear whether there will be built-in artificial intelligence tools in the final product.

Pointing out that the bond between coding and artificial intelligence in the software world is getting stronger day by day, Brussee places this trend at the center of his project. It is predicted that this change in the industry will shape the future of game engine technologies.

Do you think this new European-based game engine can shake the dominance of giants such as Unreal and Unity?
