ColorOS 17 Features and Receiving Phone Update Announced
Oppo’s new interface, ColorOS 17, comes with AI features, fluid design, and performance improvements. Here are all the new features and the update schedule.
Oppo officially introduced its newest interface, ColorOS 17, at its developer conference in China on September 17th. Developed based on Android 17, this update aims to standardize the user experience by unifying Oppo, OnePlus, and Realme devices into a single software ecosystem.
In addition to the visual innovations brought by the new software, the company also shared system-wide performance improvements and the rollout schedule with the public. Users can expect a significant increase in speed and efficiency in daily phone use, especially thanks to ColorOS 17, which is supported by fluid design elements and AI-powered tools.

Visual Experience and Navigation are Renewed
One of the most striking changes that comes with ColorOS 17 is the new navigation design called ‘Floating Island’.
Instead of being fixed to the bottom of the screen, this bar, which floats transparently and in capsule form over the content, provides ease of use with one hand. Additionally, with the ‘Fluid Design’ ideology, interface elements react more naturally to touch, enhancing user interaction.
Frosted glass effects and new lock screen clock styles used throughout the interface bring a contemporary aesthetic. 
Performance Improvements are Achieved with Tidal Engine
Oppo aims to significantly increase system speed with Tidal Engine and Polar Light Engine technologies. These systems analyze user habits to optimize resource management and allow more applications to remain open in the background.
Data shows a 15% improvement in application switching and a 35% improvement in application launch stability. 
This technical infrastructure allows the device to utilize its hardware capacity more efficiently.
AI-Powered Tools Enhance Functionality
ColorOS 17 redefines the photography and note-taking experience with artificial intelligence. Powered by the DaVinci visual model, the AI Photo Editor can handle complex editing processes with commands defined in natural language. 
Additionally, the AI Notes application, which automatically takes notes during meetings and converts them into structured summaries, supports work efficiency. 
The Xiao Bu assistant assists users in over 700 scenarios, including travel planning and proactive task tracking. 
Security Protocols and Distribution Process are Defined
Oppo, which places great value on digital security, has integrated AI-powered fraud detection and deepfake defense systems into the system. The update schedule will begin on October 8th with flagship models like the Find X9 series and will expand to a wide range of devices by the end of the year.
While an official schedule hasn’t been released for global users yet, testing is ongoing through beta processes. Users can check if their devices will receive the update on Oppo’s official website.
