Anthropic integrated Claude AI into Microsoft 365 applications. Claude, which can perform autonomous operations via Excel, Word and PowerPoint, takes office efficiency to a new dimension.
The most striking feature of the integration, “cross-application memory”, allows artificial intelligence to move a context in Word to PowerPoint.
Paid subscribers can use Claude directly in the Office interface, a powerful alternative to Microsoft’s own Copilot solution.
Artificial Intelligence Revolution in Office Work: Claude is Everywhere
This new integration announced by Anthropic brings the “computer use” capabilities of the Claude 3.5 Sonnet model to the office environment. For Microsoft Office users, this means completing routine and time-consuming tasks in seconds. For example, it is now possible to analyze thousands of lines of data in an Excel file and create meaningful graphs from there, or to convert a long Word document into a presentation suitable for the brand language with a single command.
Moreover, these features are not just simple add-ons; Claude penetrates deeply into the practices. While working in Word, he can use the “Track Changes” feature to edit text, respond to comments, and update content according to the company’s proprietary style guide.
A New Breath in Excel and PowerPoint
On the Excel side, Claude can manipulate cells and build complex data models without breaking formulas. Unlike many AI tools, it doesn’t just read data, it performs structural changes directly within workbooks.
On the PowerPoint side, the design process, which is one of the biggest problems of users, becomes easier. Claude can create native graphics and slides by recognizing the company’s existing presentation templates, fonts, and color palettes. In this way, the content prepared by artificial intelligence looks like a natural part of the presentation, not like an image added from outside.
Seamless Cross-App Experience
The most crucial point of the new update is that Claude can maintain “context” between different applications. When a user summarizes incoming e-mails in Outlook and then switches to Word, Claude continues to remember the contents of those e-mails. When the user says, “Prepare a report about the topic we just talked about in Outlook,” artificial intelligence completes the process using historical data. This stands out as a feature that allows the workflow to continue without interruption and significantly increases efficiency.
Currently, Word, Excel and PowerPoint integrations are available for general use. Outlook integration is in beta phase and helps users with issues such as organizing e-mail traffic and calendar management. This move by Anthropic seems to intensify the competition with Microsoft’s own artificial intelligence, Copilot.
