Google announced new features for the Pixel Buds Pro 2 alongside the Google Pixel 11 series and other new devices at the Made by Google 2026 event. Instead of introducing a new Pro headset this year, the company is expanding the capabilities of the existing model on the software side.
Key new features of the update include Dynamic ANC, voice control via Gemini, and sleep syncing with Pixel Watch.
Instead of releasing a new Pro headset, Google chose to enhance the existing hardware of the Pixel Buds Pro 2 with new software features.

Noise Cancellation Changes with Dynamic ANC
Coming to Pixel Buds Pro 2
Dynamic ANC can detect small changes in the fit of the earbuds during use.
When there is a change in the isolation between the earbud and the ear, the system tries to compensate for this and maintain active noise cancellation performance.
Thus, it is aimed to reduce the impact of small changes in the position of the earbuds while moving on ANC performance.
Gemini will control earbud settings
Google is also expanding Gemini’s control over Pixel Buds Pro 2. Users can now change certain sound settings with voice commands.
According to Google’s example, the user will be able to change the volume of the headphones without taking out their phone by giving a command like, “Hey Google, increase the bass.”
A noteworthy integration is also coming for Google Pixel Watch 5 owners. When the watch detects that the user has fallen asleep, the content playing on the Pixel Buds Pro 2 will be automatically stopped. At the same time, touch controls will be disabled and notification sounds will be muted.
The Pixel ecosystem continues to expand.
The innovations announced for Pixel Buds Pro 2 are also part of Google’s strategy this year to connect different modules of the Pixel ecosystem more closely.
While the company introduced its new foldable phone, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, it also took the product family to a new category with Google Pixel Tag for tracking items.
The new sleep integration between Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Watch is another example of this approach on the headphone side.
A new color option is also coming
In addition to software features, Google has also prepared a new color option for Pixel Buds Pro 2.
Thus, the existing Pixel Buds Pro 2 family gains an additional color alternative to harmonize with the new Pixel devices.
Features such as Dynamic ANC, Gemini voice control, and Pixel Watch sleep synchronization will be delivered to users via software updates.
So what do you think about Google continuing to improve Pixel Buds Pro 2 with software updates instead of introducing a new headset? You can share your opinions in the comments.
