Bank of America wants GTA 6 to come out at $80

Bank of America wants GTA 6 to come out at $80

Bank of America called for a new price standard in the gaming industry, arguing that GTA 6 should be sold for $ 80.

While the countdown continues for GTA 6, which the gaming world has been eagerly awaiting, a new statement has been made that will create controversy about the price tag of the game.

Bank of America argued that Rockstar Games should launch GTA 6 at a high price of $80 so that other developers in the game industry could increase the price.

Demand for a New Price Standard for the Industry

Speaking at a conference held in Las Vegas, Bank of America executives stated that if GTA 6, which is expected to be the biggest entertainment industry launch in history, rises to $70, other studios will have difficulty charging higher prices for their own games.

The bank’s senior executives believe that Take-Two Interactive, which serves as both publisher and partner to many developers in the industry, “will be in its interest to raise pricing standards for the entire industry.”

Other Productions That Push the 80 Dollar Limit

There are already some startups in the industry testing the $80 price tag. For example, while Mario Kart World, which will be released for Nintendo Switch 2, was announced with this high price, Microsoft also tried a similar price with The Outer Worlds 2, but had to withdraw the price due to intense reactions from the player community.

Following the price increase at the beginning of the PlayStation 5 generation, $70 is now considered the industry standard for high-budget (AAA) productions. Therefore, an $80 tag is still seen as a psychological limit that is difficult to cross and attracts reactions for most consumers.

What Will Take-Two’s GTA 6 Pricing Strategy Be?

It has been a matter of curiosity for a long time what kind of pricing strategy Take-Two, the umbrella company of Rockstar Games, will follow for GTA 6. Despite the rumors of $ 100 or more, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick reassured the players in his statement in recent weeks by stating that their main goal is “to demand a fee much, much, much lower than the value they offer.”

Still, considering multi-pack strategies in the modern gaming world, it seems likely that the standard edition of GTA 6 will remain at $70. However, it is certain that special packages that offer pre-order advantages for GTA Online, Rockstar’s main source of income, and include in-game currencies for extra content or multiplayer modes, will be offered to players with price tags of $ 100 or more.
