New information has emerged regarding the RAM specifications and processor choices for the Galaxy S27 series, which Samsung is preparing to launch next year. The hardware direction of these new models, eagerly awaited in the technology world, is shaped especially by memory technologies.
Regarding the Galaxy S27 RAM specifications, it was previously rumored that all models in the series would use the new generation LPDDR6 memory technology. However, the latest information suggests that Samsung may opt for LPDDR5X technology in more affordable models.
RAM Differences in the Galaxy S27 Series
According to a report by South Korea-based The Bell, citing internal company sources, Samsung is currently testing Micron’s new LPDDR5X memory. These memories are being developed based on Micron’s 1c manufacturing process.
This process, equivalent to Samsung and SK Hynix’s 1c DRAM manufacturing technology, holds a significant place in the company’s new generation memory strategy. According to theories, Samsung’s choice is influenced not only by technical specifications but also by the increasing RAM costs.
It is stated that Micron is charging approximately 50% more for its new LPDDR5X memories compared to the DRAM solutions produced by Samsung’s own Device Solutions unit. Considering that Micron usually applies a price difference of 20% to 30% in new generation memories, the current 50% difference is quite remarkable.
This situation shows that even if Samsung chooses Micron’s LPDDR5X solutions, it may still face a higher memory cost compared to previous Galaxy S models. Therefore, it seems the company is conducting quite meticulous work on cost management.
These memory choices of the company are among the elements that directly affect the exact production costs and therefore the market prices of smartphones. This change in the hardware world also reflects Samsung’s pursuit of efficiency at the production limit.
Processor Strategy and Model Differentiation
It is not yet certain whether all models in the series will use the same memory technology. According to current rumors, the Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra models are expected to use LPDDR6 memory along with Qualcomm’s new generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor.
It is claimed that the standard Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27 Plus models will continue with LPDDR5X memory technology. It is also among the theories that these two models will use Samsung’s own developed Exynos 2700 processor.
The Exynos 2700, reportedly built on Samsung’s second-generation 2nm manufacturing process, could play a critical role in the company’s next-generation portable processor strategy. This processor is considered a valuable step forward, especially in terms of power efficiency and performance stability.
It’s worth noting that this information is not yet officially confirmed by the company. It seems highly likely that there will be further developments regarding memory and processor options before Samsung introduces the Galaxy S27 series.
