Artificial Intelligence Revolution at the Summit of Turkish Industry: Farmicca Receives Prestigious Productivity Award

Artificial Intelligence Revolution at the Summit of Turkish Industry: Farmicca Receives Prestigious Productivity Award

Farmicca receives first prize from the Ministry of Industry and Technology at the 11th Productivity Project Awards with its AI-powered vertical farming technology, Illuminator.

The 11th Productivity Project Awards, organized to increase productivity awareness in production in line with Turkey’s sustainable development goals, are being presented at a magnificent ceremony in Ankara. In this competition, where over 450 projects from public and private sectors competed and industrial giants fiercely vied for recognition, Farmicca Agricultural Technologies Inc. stands out with its domestic solutions in the fields of vertical farming and climate-controlled environment farming (CEA). The company is awarded First Place in its category with its AI-powered smart lighting technology, “Illuminator.”

  • Fierce Competition: Farmicca takes first place in its category at the 11th Productivity Project Awards, received which more than 450 applications.

  • High Savings: The developed climate-controlled soilless farming facilities provide a 97% saving in water usage compared to classical methods.

  • National Technology Investment: The company is establishing the “Farmicca Campus” R&D center in Çatalca, Istanbul, with $1 million in equity capital.

Domestic Agricultural Technology Takes the Top Spot at the Productivity Project Awards

The awards were presented by the General Directorate of Strategic Research and Productivity of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, Ankara KOSGEB. The ceremony, held in the Presidential Conference Hall, once again showcases Türkiye’s technology-focused production vision. Attended by the Minister of Industry and Technology, Mehmet Fatih Kacır, the event recognizes projects that provide power efficiency in production processes, reduce environmental footprint, and generate high added value.

Farmicca Agricultural Technologies stands out on this platform, where Turkey’s largest giants compete, with its domestically developed engineering solutions. The company’s winning artificial intelligence-based system, Illuminator, optimizes power consumption, one of the biggest cost items in indoor farming.

Sustainable Production with 3% Water Consumption Compared to Traditional Farming

Today, climate change, drought risks, and dwindling freshwater resources directly threaten global food security. Farmicca’s end-to-end turnkey soilless farming facilities offer a concrete solution to this critical issue. No pesticides are used in the production processes, which are carried out in completely enclosed and climate-controlled areas.

Energy Optimization and Smart Software Infrastructure

By consuming only 3% water in the facilities, a huge resource saving is achieved compared to conventional farming. The “Farmisense” facility control software, developed by the company and managing the production process end-to-end, maximizes operational efficiency. In this way, maximum yield is achieved with minimum labor, while creating a highly profitable production model for investors that is independent of seasonal conditions.

Turkish Signature in Global Markets: Middle East and Central Asia Targeted

The domestic company, which competes head-to-head with its global competitors in the field of modern agricultural technologies, aims to position Turkey as a central hub in strategic export markets. Markets such as the Middle East, Central Asia, and Russia, which are particularly dependent on imports for fresh food due to climatic conditions, show intense interest in these types of high-tech soilless farming facilities.

Farmicca Chairman and CEO Cem Sezer, who received the award from the Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, emphasizes that food security has now become a national security issue. Stating that a similar success to the localization achieved in the defense industry can be achieved in smart farming technologies, Sezer says that the fact that all of the technologies they have developed are the product of domestic engineering is a great gain for the country.

A Huge $1 Million R&D Investment in Çatalca: Farmicca Campus

Taking steps to make technological leadership sustainable, the company is launching the “Farmicca Campus” project in Çatalca, Istanbul, with a $1 million investment. This innovation center, established on an area of 1,000 square meters, is being realized entirely with the company’s own resources.

Future Agricultural Engineers Are Being Trained

Advanced research is being conducted in independent climate chambers within the center on the development and nutrient requirements of different plant clusters. Farmicca Campus not only hosts R&D activities but also contributes to Turkey’s trained human resources in this field as an educational base that trains the vertical farming engineers of the future.

The Touch of Artificial Intelligence to the Agriculture of the Future: Illuminator

The “Illuminator,” the driving force behind the first-place award, optimizes plant development processes in indoor farming with artificial intelligence algorithms. The system, which instantly analyzes the light spectrum and intensity needed by plants, maximizes the rate of photosynthesis. This smart technology, which reduces power costs while increasing the nutrient requirements of the crops, sets a new standard in agricultural production.
