Apple Intelligence has received the necessary regulatory approval in China. Apple is collaborating with Baidu and Alibaba models for the Chinese market.
Apple Intelligence has completed its official registration with China’s cyberspace regulator. This development removed one of the biggest obstacles to Apple’s launch of artificial intelligence services in the Chinese market.
The company is collaborating with local companies to comply with the complex artificial intelligence and privacy laws in China. In this process, Apple plans to integrate models developed by Baidu and Alibaba into its own system.
Local Collaborations in the Chinese Market
According to information provided by Reuters, Alibaba’s Qwen model will be used in the Chinese version of Apple Intelligence. This model will be included in compatible iPhone, iPad, Mac and Vision Pro devices sold in China.
Baidu’s role is not yet fully clear. However, a Baidu spokesperson confirmed that the company has taken an active role in the development of artificial intelligence services specific to China.
Apple has not yet made an official statement on the issue. If the process progresses as planned, Apple Intelligence will enter the Chinese market two years after its launch in the USA.
New Features and Siri Integration
China is among the world’s largest and fastest markets for Apple. Therefore, bringing Apple Intelligence features to the region has strategic value for the company.
This regulatory approval is a critical step in bringing Apple Intelligence-powered features, especially the revamped Siri, to Chinese users. A clear date has not yet been shared as to when Apple will make these new features available.
The integration in question stands out as a part of Apple’s effort to comply with local regulations in China. By incorporating local models into the system, the company both fulfills legal requirements and adapts the user experience to the region.
How do you think Apple will strengthen its position in the Chinese market with this move?
