A New Era on the Screen with Galaxy S27

A New Era on the Screen with Galaxy S27

Samsung plans to include BOE in its display supply chain in order to reduce Galaxy S27 costs. Here are the details.

Samsung is developing various strategies to limit the negative effects of the DRAM crisis on its operational processes. Although the company had to increase the price of the Galaxy S26 series, it is looking for new ways to keep costs under control in the Galaxy S27 model.

The technology giant is turning to a dual supply strategy to minimize component costs. For screens, which are one of the most costly parts of smartphones, Samsung plans to get support from another manufacturer in addition to its own panels in the Galaxy S27 model.

Possibility of Cooperation with BOE and Quality Concerns

According to the details shared by ZDNet Korea and ITHome, Samsung is considering including Chinese manufacturer BOE in its supply chain in order to reduce costs. Although BOE is already in Apple’s supply chain, it has had some problems with production quantity and quality standards in the past.

Although Samsung has its own display manufacturing unit, this unit does not sell lower-cost panels to its smartphone department. This situation forces the company to turn to external resources and causes alternatives such as BOE to come to the fore.

Samsung had previously implemented its cost-cutting strategy by using TCL CSOT-produced OLED panels in mid-segment models such as the Galaxy A57. However, since the flagship series Galaxy S27 is met with higher expectations by users, this situation requires a different sensitivity.

Strategic Change and Future Expectations

If Samsung uses BOE in the Galaxy S27 model, it will have to manage possible differences in screen quality. The company is expected to demand higher production standards from BOE for this device, which will be offered with a high price tag.

This potential collaboration between the two companies has not yet turned into a finalized agreement. While there is a possibility that the negotiations will result negatively, it is necessary to follow the developments in the sector closely.
