Windows 11 Update Introduces Major Changes.

Microsoft is undergoing a radical overhaul of the Windows 11 operating system’s update infrastructure to improve user experience. Initially rolled out to users in the Windows Insider program, these changes aim to address complaints, particularly regarding installation and update delays.

With these new regulations, the company is giving users more control by relaxing mandatory update steps that interrupt their computer usage. While these changes are expected to be rolled out to all Windows 11 users in the near future, the goal is to make the system more flexible.

Microsoft is allowing Windows 11 users to defer updates for up to 35 days and indefinitely.
A skip update option is being added to the initial setup screen (OOBE), speeding up the system access process.
Users can now shut down or restart their computers without having to install downloaded updates.
The update deferral period can be extended as needed.

In the current system, users faced a specific time limit for pausing updates. However, with the new infrastructure, these restrictions are significantly relaxed.

Users will now have the option to pause updates for up to 35 days. According to Microsoft, if the 35-day period isn’t enough, the pause end date can be extended as needed. This flexibility allows users to reset the pause period as often as they wish, taking another 35-day break each time.

The ability to reset the update pause period as often as desired gives users complete control.

This feature is particularly vital for professionals working with data-intensive tasks or those who need to carefully manage their internet data allowance.

Microsoft emphasizes that the aim of this flexibility is not to force users to update, but to make system security compatible with user preferences and work schedules. This eliminates the problem of the computer being updated at the most unexpected times.

System Setup and Shutdown Processes are Speeded Up

The long waiting times caused by mandatory updates during the “Out-of-Box Experience” (OOBE) process, the initial installation phase of Windows 11, are also becoming a thing of the past.

Thanks to the new infrastructure, users will be able to quickly access the operating system directly by skipping updates during installation. This change means time savings, especially for users who get a new device or reset their system.

Users now have the freedom to shut down or restart their computers without having to install downloaded updates.

Furthermore, the shutdown options that Windows 11 users have long awaited are also being updated. In addition to the “Update and Shut Down” or “Update and Restart” options, there is now also the option to shut down the system without installing updates.

Microsoft also aims to consolidate numerous minor updates into a single restart that only needs to be done once a month. This minimizes system interruptions.
