Xiaomi Models Waiting for HyperOS 3.1 Update: Which Devices Are Next?

Xiaomi Models Waiting for HyperOS 3.1 Update: Which Devices Are Next?

Redmi and Poco models awaiting the Xiaomi HyperOS 3.1 update have been announced. Here are the huge surprises brought by the new interface.

Xiaomi is increasing its gear on the software side of the technology world day by day. While the company focuses on Android 17-based HyperOS 4 for its flagship models, it is also trying to spread the current version, HyperOS 3.1, across its entire ecosystem.

Although approximately 85% of eligible devices have received this new interface with the distribution process that started in April, many models, especially those in the budget-friendly and middle segment, are still on the waiting list.

While top models such as Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra are included in the Android 17 Developer Preview program, millions of users in the Redmi and Poco series are counting the days to experience the innovations brought by HyperOS 3.1.

List of Devices That Have Not Yet Received the HyperOS 3.1 Update

Xiaomi’s wide product range makes it difficult for software updates to reach all devices at the same time. Flagship devices usually get first priority, while lower-equipped or older generation models are updated according to the wave system. According to shared data, the following 17 different models are still waiting for HyperOS 3.1:

  • Redmi Series:Redmi Note 15 Pro 4G, Redmi Note 14 4G, Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G, Redmi 14C, Redmi 13, Redmi 13X, Redmi A4, Redmi A3 Pro.

  • Redmi Pad Series:Redmi Pad 2, Redmi Pad 2 Pro 5G, Redmi Pad SE 4G.

  • Poco Series:Poco M7 4G, Poco M6, Poco C85 4G, Poco C75, Poco C75 5G, Poco Pad M1.

The majority of the devices on this list are a little further behind due to hardware restrictions or regional software approvals. However, given Xiaomi’s current pace, these models are expected to be gradually updated over the next few weeks.

Why is the Update Process Delayed?

Releasing a software update doesn’t just mean uploading files to the server. Xiaomi engineers work extra hours to make the software run smoothly, especially on entry-level phones (such as Redmi A4 or Poco C75). The following reasons usually lie behind these delays:

Hardware Optimization and Stability

The software processing capacity of each processor and graphics unit varies. Fine adjustments are being made to prevent the rich animations that come with HyperOS 3.1 from causing lag on phones with more modest processors. Critical bugs detected during testing delay the release of the current version to the general public.

Regional Certification Processes

For Global, India, Europe or Türkiye ROMs, compatibility tests with local operators and legal regulations are carried out. This sometimes leads to a device being updated in China and waiting in the global market.

Important Innovations with HyperOS 3.1

HyperOS 3.1 is not just an interim version; It is defined as a large package that directly affects the user experience. With this version, Xiaomi users get an experience closer to the Apple ecosystem.

Integration with Apple Ecosystem and AirPods Support

One of the most surprising features of the update is the built-in integration offered for Apple AirPods. Now an AirPods user can natively manage the quick pairing screen, active noise canceling (ANC) controls, and spatial audio settings on their Xiaomi phone.

Additionally, the new “Recent Apps” page with iOS-style vertical scrolling adds a more modern feel to the interface.

Hyper Island and Visual Improvements

The “Hyper Island” feature, which we first encountered on Xiaomi tablets, now comes to smartphones with richer animations. Thanks to this feature, notifications and background activities appear as an interactive island at the top of the screen.

In addition, advanced depth effects offered on the lock screen allow users to set their photos as wallpaper in a much more aesthetic way.

Super OTA Technology

Xiaomi also speeds up the update installation process. Thanks to the Super OTA feature, updates are installed faster and the device reboot time is minimized. This technology aims to prevent errors that may occur during installation.

Looking to the Future: HyperOS 4 and Android 17

While the distribution of HyperOS 3.1 continues, Xiaomi is also preparing for HyperOS 4 based on Android 17. Currently, models such as Xiaomi 17, 17 Ultra and 15T Pro have already started testing the new operating system through the beta program.

However, for entry and mid-segment users, HyperOS 3.1 will continue to be the most up-to-date stop for a while.
