Xiaomi has released Android 17 Developer Preview based on HyperOS 3.3 for its flagship devices Xiaomi 17, 17 Ultra and 15T Pro.
Preparations for new generation operating systems in the smartphone world are continuing at full speed. Xiaomi is making a big surprise to its flagship users by officially launching the Android 17 Developer Preview program.
The company is kicking off the testing process by unexpectedly pairing the new beta program directly with the HyperOS 3.3 release. This version, which was initially only available for a limited number of upper segment devices, also marks a significant change in the brand’s software strategy.
Surprise with HyperOS 3.3 and Supported Devices
According to the details noticed by Ximi Time, known for its leaks in the software world, Xiaomi is completely skipping the HyperOS 3.2 version in between while presenting the new Android 17 beta structure to users. This shows that the company will integrate Android 17 directly with HyperOS 3.3 before moving to HyperOS 4. When we look at the competition in the market, we see that Xiaomi responded quite early to Samsung’s One UI and Oppo’s rapid beta steps on the ColorOS side.
Currently, the Android 17 Developer Preview program only covers four specific devices:
Xiaomi 17 Ultra
Xiaomi 15T Pro
Leica Leitzphone (Xiaomi supported)
If you own one of these devices, you have the chance to experience new features months before the stable version will be available for general use.
Things to Consider Before Installation
Before moving on to the installation steps, it is important to remember that this is a “Developer Preview” version. Due to the nature of beta builds, they may contain various bugs, crashes, battery consumption problems and application incompatibilities. For this reason, it is recommended that you install the update on a secondary device instead of your primary phone that you use daily.
It is very important to back up all your important data to cloud storage or your computer before the process, just in case. Additionally, for a smooth and safe installation process, you need to make sure that your device’s charge level is at least 40 percent and that you have at least 10 GB of free space in your storage space.
How to Install Android 17 Beta on Xiaomi Devices?
To perform the installation, your device must first run on the current infrastructure version determined by Xiaomi. After this control, you can follow these steps ensuring:
your phone Settings > About phoneGo to the menu and at the top Xiaomi HyperOSTap the logo.
To activate the hidden menu, tap the Xiaomi HyperOS text at the top of the screen 10 times in a row.
Click on the three dots icon that appears in the upper right corner and Select update packageTap (Choose update package).
Start the installation process by selecting the ROM file you saved to internal storage.
Since this is a major version upgrade, the device restart and optimization process may take a little longer than usual. If you encounter serious errors in the beta version or want to return to the stable version for any reason, you can download the appropriate downgrade file from official sources and restore it to your device using the same method. However, it is worth remembering that downgrading will delete all your data on the device.
