Xiaomi has made its official announcement for the highly anticipated new flagship series. The company has indicated September 23rd as the launch date for the Xiaomi 18 Pro.

Hardware and Processor Power

Xiaomi has already confirmed the basic hardware specifications of the models that will be included in the new series. The Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max models will come with the same processor platform and camera system.

One of the most striking innovations of the series is on the processor side. Xiaomi has announced that both models will use a new generation flagship portable platform with a 2nm GAA manufacturing process. The company states that this new platform will offer significant improvements in performance and power efficiency compared to previous generations. While the processor’s trade name has not yet been shared, sources refer to it as Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. Official technical details are expected to be clarified during Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit, which will be held between September 22-24. This processor choice directly supports the series’ high-performance goals. On the camera side, the Xiaomi 18 Pro series combines two 200MP sensors within the same system. This setup is said to consist of a large-sensor main camera and a large-sensor periscope telephoto camera. Past leaks suggest the camera system may offer a focal length between 17 mm and 75 mm. Additionally, it’s been noted that the system will feature 3.2x periscope zoom.

Screen and Battery Technologies

On the screen side, Xiaomi is switching to a new generation Super Pixel panel technology using a new green light-emitting material with the M11 light-emitting system. This structure aims to achieve higher brightness levels with lower power consumption.

The new approach to screen packaging reduces the bezel thickness of the devices to 0.99 mm. This design change optimizes the screen’s footprint on the device body, resulting in a thinner appearance.

Battery capacity is the most obvious hardware difference between the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. Both models use GSR VIII

battery technology with 32% silicon content. The Xiaomi 18 Pro model comes with a 7,000 mAh battery, while the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max model has an 8,500 mAh battery. This shows that the Pro Max model offers 1,500 mAh higher power capacity than the standard Pro model.
