Which Apple Pencil Models Does the iPhone Duo Support?

Pen, iPhone Duo, Users, Device, Model

Apple’s eagerly awaited new foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, is entering the technology world as the first iPhone model to offer Apple Pencil support. This innovative feature allows users to use the pen on both the inner and outer screens of the device, taking the portable experience to a new level. However, this new capability comes with reasonable hardware limitations. The company has officially announced that the iPhone Duo model is only compatible with Apple Pencil with a USB-C port.

This creates a disadvantage for users who own the Apple Pencil Pro model, which sells for $129. The Apple Pencil Pro cannot be used with the iPhone Duo because it does not have a magnetic charging surface on the device.

Why is Apple Pencil Pro Not Supported?

The Apple Pencil Pro has an advanced structure that can be magnetically charged when connected to compatible iPad models. The iPhone Duo, however, cannot connect with the stylus because its design does not include a magnetic connection point.

The fact that the advanced features offered by the Apple Pencil Pro do not work on the iPhone Duo is an important point that users should pay attention to when making a choice. The physical structure of the device does not support the charging and connection infrastructure that this high-end stylus requires.

Apple’s USB-C Apple Pencil, which is sold for $79, charges via a hidden port on the back. While this stylus model supports basic functions such as tilt sensitivity, it lacks some professional features.

USB-C Apple Pencil Features and Usage Details

Users will not find advanced capabilities such as pressure sensitivity, double tap, body rotation, and haptic feedback on the USB-C Apple Pencil. Additionally, this stylus model lacks modern functions such as Find My support and the squeeze feature.

Apple states that the stylus can be used seamlessly on both the inner and outer screens of the device. This feature is a valuable detail for those who want to efficiently utilize the large screen experience offered by the iPhone Duo.

The iPhone Duo will be available to users on October 23rd, and pre-orders will begin on October 16th. However, stylus support will not be available on the first day of release and will be offered by Apple later in the year with an update.

Considering this limited stylus support and the other features offered by the device, do you think the iPhone Duo’s stylus performance will be sufficient for daily use?

Details about iPhone Duo Apple Pencil support are now available. You can find out which stylus the device works with and its limitations in this news article.
