WhatsApp introduces a new notification feature for pinned notifications so that users do not miss valuable information in the chat or group. Previously, when a message was pinned, users could only see it when they opened the chat window. However, this situation changes with WhatsApp Android beta 2.26.27.4 version.

Now, when a notification is pinned, users will be notified directly via the notification panel. This new feature also displays the content of the pinned message in the notification, allowing users to be informed without opening the application. This innovation, which is in the testing phase, will be delivered to wider audiences in the coming weeks.

Pinned Messages Are Becoming More Visible

WhatsApp continues to improve its notification pinning feature, which is very useful for group administrators and personal users.

Until now, although a pinned notification remained at the top of the chat interface, users could remain unaware of these notifications if they did not regularly monitor the chat. The new notification system aims to prevent this valuable information from being overlooked.

Every pinned valuable message is now notified to all cluster members with an instant warning.

How Notifications Work

When the new system comes into effect, as soon as a message is pinned, the words “Pinned:” and the content of the message appears on the users’ screen.

Users can read the content from the notification panel, and when they tap on it, they are directed directly to the relevant chat window. When media content such as photos or images are pinned, a preview is not shown in the notification; Instead, a general notification is made that a media item has been pinned.

Notifications Not Sent in Silent Chats

WhatsApp keeps this new notification feature to a limited extent in order to protect the user experience. If a chat or group is muted, no notifications are sent for pinned messages. This is in line with the application’s current notification policies.

Users need to unmute their chats to be notified of updates.

Muted clusters are excluded from this new system to prevent notification pollution.

The Feature is Being Released to Users Gradually

For now, the feature is only available in the beta version, which can be downloaded from the Google Play Store for a limited number of beta testers.

WhatsApp plans to gradually roll out this feature to general use. It is predicted that more users will be able to access this innovation in the next few weeks. There is no official date yet for when the stable version will be available for general use.
