WhatsApp Interface is Completely Renewed: Here is the New Liquid Glass Design

WhatsApp Interface is Completely Renewed: Here is the New Liquid Glass Design

WhatsApp is testing new Liquid Glass design with frosted glass effect and floating chat bar. This update, which will completely change the chat interface, offers a modern visual experience.

WhatsApp has rolled up its sleeves for a modern visual touch that will radically change the user experience. According to leaks shared by WABetaInfo, the platform is preparing to integrate the Liquid Glass design language, popularized by Apple with iOS 26, into the entire chat interface.

This new design approach does not only have an aesthetic concern; At the same time, it enables the application to take on a much lighter, deeper and more fluid structure. The new interface, which will be equipped with layered depth effects and translucent surfaces, promises a more integrated digital experience by eliminating solid lines on the chat screen.

  • WhatsApp is switching to a “floating chat bar” design that floats on the screen instead of a fixed bottom bar on the chat screen.

  • The app’s top and bottom navigation panels get a translucent effect that slightly reflects the background wallpaper.

  • With the new design language, interactive elements such as the voice note player and message reactions are also modernized by gaining a “fluid” appearance.

A More Stylish Look with Floating Chat Bar

The most striking part of WhatsApp’s new design strategy is undoubtedly the change in the chat bar. The message writing area, which is stuck to the bottom of the screen in the current version, is now positioned “floating” slightly above the screen, in accordance with the aesthetics of Android 17 and iOS 26.

This design change makes it feel like it takes up less space on the screen and makes one-handed use more ergonomic.

With the Liquid Glass design, the background of this floating bar has a semi-transparent structure instead of a completely matte color. So while you’re typing a message, your chat wallpaper continues to appear, slightly floating behind this area.

This creates a smooth transition between layers in the interface, making the application appear more in-depth.

Transparency Era in Navigation Panels

Not only the message writing area, but also the navigation bar at the top of the application, where profile information is located, is also affected by this change.

WhatsApp plans to move to a fully transparent or translucent appearance by removing the sharp color blocks in this area. Thanks to a smooth transition effect, users will be able to see messages pass under this bar as they scroll up.

This visual innovation offers a much more impressive dynamism, especially in dark and light mode options. The fluid glass effect, which reacts according to the lighting and movements of the system, breaks the static structure of the application and helps it gain a more lively form. In addition, auxiliary elements in the chat, such as the “go to the latest message” button, are fully compatible with this new visual standard.

User Experience and Readability are in the Foreground

Although many worry users that transparency effects may negatively affect readability, the Meta team is very meticulous about this issue. The Liquid Glass design comes with a special contrast management that ensures that texts and icons always remain in the foreground. The frosted glass effect preserves the clarity of messages by blurring background clutter.

It is known that the new design is currently being tested with a limited audience in iOS beta versions. However, in accordance with WhatsApp’s cross-platform consistency policy, this visual feast is expected to be activated for Android users very soon. This move of the company is a strong response to the modern interface options offered by its Competitors such as Telegram.
