Two Important Developments Are Expected on the iPhone 18 Pro Screen

Apple is preparing for a valuable update in the iPhone 18 Pro series with LTPO + screen technology and 35 percent smaller Dynamic Island.

While Apple continues its preparations for its highly anticipated new flagship iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models, two critical innovations in the screen technology of the devices have come to light. According to the latest reports from the department, although no changes are planned in screen sizes, Apple engineers are focusing on fundamental changes that will increase the performance and efficiency of display panels.

The iPhone 18 Pro series will both switch to LTPO+ technology and make a significant reduction in the Dynamic Island design. These developments will enable users to have a better quality visual experience and provide more efficient use of battery life.

  • iPhone 18 Pro models will switch to the new generation LTPO+ technology, which increases screen brightness and power efficiency.
  • The Dynamic Island cutout area will shrink by 35 percent compared to existing models, providing a larger usable screen area.
  • New display technologies will provide a smoother image experience by reducing screen flickering in low light conditions.

LTPO+ Technology Will Increase Screen Performance

Apple is preparing to switch to a more advanced panel technology called LTPO+ in the iPhone 18 Pro models. The existing LTPO technology, which has supported display features such as Always-On and ProMotion to date, is moved to a higher level of efficiency with this new revision. LTPO+ technology makes it possible to use oxide materials not only in switching transistors but also in driving transistors.

This technical smoothing provides much more precise current control for OLED light emission.

The change in question minimizes power consumption by allowing the screen to optimize itself according to environmental conditions. Screen flickering, especially in low-light environments, is expected to be greatly reduced thanks to this technology. Users will have the opportunity to use their devices for longer with a more balanced and power-friendly display performance.

Dynamic Island Design Will Become Smaller

Another important innovation in screen technology will occur in the Dynamic Island area.

Apple is preparing to physically shrink this design, which it has been using since 2022, for the first time. According to the leaked information, the new Dynamic Island section will be approximately 35 percent smaller compared to the design in the iPhone 17 Pro series.

This change allows Apple to get one step closer to its ultimate goal: the full-screen experience.

The clues seen in the Siri interface in the iOS 27 software confirm that this reduction will be implemented in a way that is compatible with the design language. When the Dynamic Island area becomes smaller, users will have more screen space and visual obstructions during content consumption will be somewhat reduced.

Apple’s software developments, combined with this physical shrinkage, will offer a more contemporary appearance.
