With the announcement of the 2026 Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) placement results, the success tables of universities have become clear. The tradition that has continued since 2016 was not broken this year either, and Turkey’s most successful students chose Istanbul Medipol University for their education. While 4 of the students who ranked in the top 5 nationwide and 27 of the candidates who ranked in the top 100 joined Medipol, all three candidates who ranked first in Turkey with the additional TÜBİTAK points chose Medipol International Faculty of Medicine. At the press conference, the university administration introduced the top-ranking students to the public and shared the academic opportunities offered.

Istanbul Medipol University maintains its leading position in the field of health and medicine in the 2026 placement period. This year, the International Faculty of Medicine, which accepts students only from among the top 27 candidates in Turkey, continues to hold the title of Turkey’s medical faculty with the highest minimum admission score. Two of the top six medical faculties in the country, and the two that admit students with the highest scores, operate under the umbrella of Istanbul Medipol University.

Comprehensive Scholarship and Support Model for Top-Ranking Students

The university provides extensive opportunities to its top-ranking students during their secondary education and after graduation:

Monthly Education Scholarship: Students receive up to 50,000 TL in monthly financial support.
Accommodation and Living Support: In addition to free dormitory and meal opportunities, opportunities for foreign language education abroad are provided.
Aziz Sancar Overseas Doctoral Scholarship: Researchers who wish to pursue a doctorate at one of the world’s top 50 universities after graduation receive funding of up to $40,000 annually.

Adapting to Technology: Artificial Intelligence Programs Shaping Preference Lists

Istanbul Medipol University stands out in the 2026 placement period with its programs focused on technological transformation and data-oriented disciplines. The

Business Administration and Artificial Intelligence Department, which accepted students for the first time this year, became the 5th highest-scoring Equal Weighting department in Turkey in its first year by accepting students from the top 208 success percentile nationwide. Other departments that blended the interdisciplinary education model with artificial intelligence also admitted students with high rankings:

Artificial Intelligence Engineering:
Ranked first with a success ranking of 182, it reached the top in its field for the second consecutive time.
Philosophy and Artificial Intelligence:
Accepted students from the top 753 percentile.
History and Artificial Intelligence:
Ranked first with a ranking of 1112.

Mehmet Ozan Dormul, who ranked 44th in Turkey in the YKS Equal Weight field and chose the Business Administration and Artificial Intelligence Department, states that the hybrid structure combining data analytics with the business discipline played a direct role in his choice.

Research-Oriented Academic Ecosystem

Speaking at the press conference, Istanbul Medipol University Rector Prof. Dr. Bahadır Kürşat Güntürk stated that they have established a strong education and research ecosystem with over 40,000 students, 1,500 academics, and more than 200 programs. With modern campuses, advanced research laboratories, and a vision aiming for global integration, the goal is to train the qualified workforce of the future in both health sciences and artificial intelligence-focused engineering and social sciences.

2026 YKS champions made their choices. 3 first-place winners in Turkey and 27 students from the top 100 have been accepted to Istanbul Medipol with their medicine and artificial intelligence-focused programs.
