TEKNOFEST is bringing together maritime culture and classic skills with water sports this time. As part of the four-day TEKNOFEST Blue Homeland activities, Tug-of-War, Hand Throwing, and Dragon Boat races will be held. The efforts of the teams, showing their strength, coordination, technique, and team spirit will provide visitors with exciting moments.

Maritime Tradition and Sporting Competition Together

The Blue Homeland activities bring not only technological projects but also the disciplines that form the cornerstones of maritime culture to the field. Teams will seek success on the courses not only with physical strength but also with true technique, timing, and high synchronization.

Strength and Balance Test on a 90-Meter Rope

One of the most demanding events of the festival, the Tug-of-War Competition is held between 10:00 and 11:30 for four days. In this stage, where a total of 15 teams will participate, they will fiercely compete for a rope that is 3 burgata thick and 90 meters long. The key to success is not individual strength, but the simultaneous and synchronized application of strength by the team.

Reaching the Target with a 30-Meter Rope: Hand Throwing

The hand throw technique, which is vital in docking and mooring operations of ships, is presented to the audience in a sporting competition format at the festival. 15 groups participate in the competition, which takes place between 15:00 and 16:00 for four days. Competitors must throw a 30-meter-long hand line accurately and consistently to a designated target. Accuracy and timing are the most crucial criteria in this stage.

300-Meter Dragon Boat Race

Showcasing the highest level of rhythm and harmony on the water, the Dragon Boat Race takes place on August 22-23 between 12:00 and 13:00. A total of 13 groups participate, with each team consisting of 10 athletes. The groups row to achieve the best possible time on the 300-meter course. This sport, where overall harmony and rhythm are more important than individual effort, provides some of the most dynamic moments of the festival.
