Surprise Return Before CEO Change at Apple

Apple’s new CEO, John Ternus, has reinstated former hardware executive Laura Legros, who retired before his September 1st mission.

John Ternus, who will take office as Apple’s new CEO on September 1st, continues to shape his management team. In this context, Ternus has brought back a key hardware engineering executive who previously retired.

According to information shared by Bloomberg, Laura Legros, who retired in 2022, is returning to Apple. Legros will continue her work reporting directly to John Ternus, who will take the CEO seat on September 1st.

Experienced Name Returns

Laura Legros, who previously served as assistant leader in Ternus’s hardware engineering team, will work cross-functionally with different parts of the company. Legros is known as one of Ternus’s most trusted names, having previously managed product delivery processes and ensured harmony among engineering teams.

Legros, who has been featured at major product launches throughout his career, introduced the new MacBook Air model in 2018. Two later years, he was the one who presented the new iPad Air design to the public.

Leadership Transition Process at Apple

Preparations for the transition from Tim Cook to John Ternus at Apple have been ongoing for months. For the past few months, Ternus has been closely following Cook, leading high-level executive meetings.

The future CEO has met with presidents across the company and participated in roadmap reviews for many departments for the coming year. Ternus is expected to manage several high-level changes in the coming years, including those involving figures such as Phil Schiller and Luca Maestri, who are approaching retirement age.
