Qualcomm’s new generation flagship processor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 Pro, is preparing to be introduced at the Snapdragon Summit event next month. This chipset, which has not yet been officially announced, has appeared in the AnTuTu 11 benchmark test.

Known by the internal codename SM8975, the processor attracted attention by scoring 4.83 million points in the tests. Considering that Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processors mostly score between 4 and 4.6 million points, this new chipset offers approximately a 5% performance increase.

Technical details and performance expectations

It is important to remember that the leaked benchmark results may have been performed on incomplete hardware. Therefore, it is stated that the scores obtained may not fully reflect the final performance and a cautious approach should be taken.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 series is expected to be released in both a Pro and a standard version. While both processors are rumored to be manufactured using a 2nm process, it is not yet clear whether this manufacturing will be carried out by TSMC or Samsung.

According to leaks, both chipsets will feature new generation Orion CPU cores in a 2+3+3 configuration. In terms of graphics, the standard model is rumored to come with an Adreno 845 GPU with 12MB of graphics memory. The Pro model is expected to be equipped with a more capable Adreno 850 GPU offering 18MB of graphics memory.

To launch with the Xiaomi 18 series

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 Pro processor is expected to power devices such as the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max, which are planned to be released in September. It remains to be seen what kind of user experience this new generation chipset will offer in the portable world.
