While sailing in the Black Sea, the M/T Golden Sapling was attacked by a drone. After the evacuation of its crew, it lost control and drifted ashore.

According to the information received, the ship was attacked by a drone approximately 90 miles from Sinop Port. The 21-person crew on board was rescued by the ship Maran Pytha

and taken to Novorossiysk Port.

Following the evacuation of the crew, the abandoned tanker began to drift towards the Samsun coast due to the terrible weather conditions and sea currents in the Black Sea. The empty tanker ran aground in the Geyikkoşan area of ​​Alaçam district in Samsun. A rescue operation was launched to remove the damaged ship from its current location and move it to a safer spot.

Teams are continuing their efforts to refloat the ship and remove it from the area. Necessary precautions are also expected to be taken against the risks the ship may pose to the surrounding area.
