Apple’s first foldable phone, iPhone Ultra, comes with an M14 OLED screen and vapor chamber technology. Here are all the prominent details about the device.
The iPhone Ultra model, which is expected to be Apple’s first foldable phone, continues to gain speed in pre-production preparation processes. Current information leaked from the supply chain provides valuable clues about the technical equipment and production process of the device.
According to new information, iPhone Ultra will be equipped with Samsung’s M14 OLED screen technology. It is also stated that a special vapor chamber technology will be used to increase the cooling performance of the device.
Display Technology and Hardware Differences
It is stated that the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models will use the more advanced M16 OLED panels. These panels provide a significant increase in power efficiency by using blue phosphorescent material instead of blue fluorescent.
The basic iPhone 18 model is expected to use M14 OLED or M12+ technology, which is an updated version of the M12 panels introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro. The iPhone 18 Pro series is preparing to appear with a screen technology similar to the Pixel 11 Pro.
On the production side, the iPhone Ultra is aimed to be released in September 2026. Although there were some difficulties during the assembly of the components onto the circuit board in the first stages, the production schedule is progressing as planned.
It is confirmed that the iPhone Ultra model will have vapor chamber technology, which is expected to offer high thermal performance. However, it is claimed that the device will waive some features such as Face ID, telephoto camera, MagSafe, physical SIM slot and Action button.
Design and Color Options
Sources in the industry also shared images of the dummy unit of the device. These images show that the foldable phone will come in two different color options: white and dark blue.
This new model from Apple follows a different path from the Pro series in design and hardware preferences. This first step of the company in the foldable device market brings with it some compromises in terms of technical features.
