Samsung announced that it has developed new Galaxy Book laptops with Android 17 and One UI 9 interface. Here are the details of the new models.
Samsung is preparing to take a new step to combine its wide product ecosystem with a more consistent user experience. The company is working on new Galaxy Book laptops that run on the Android operating system, in addition to its existing Windows-based models.
These new devices will be based on the 9th version of the One UI interface that Samsung uses on its smartphones and tablets. These laptops, which will come with the Android 17 operating system, aim to increase software integrity between the brand’s different devices.
New models that will come with Android 17 and One UI 9
It is stated that this new laptop series developed by Samsung will consist of three different versions: entry, middle and upper segment. While the flagship model in particular is expected to have a very thin design, it is stated that design priorities may be shaped according to market dynamics.
It is expected that the new devices will include the Galaxy AI features that Samsung offers in its phones and tablets. Additionally, an improved version of Samsung DeX will also be available on these laptops to increase productivity and will work integrated with other Galaxy devices.
The company currently offers ChromeOS-based Galaxy Chromebook models to users. In the future, it seems likely that these devices will switch to the new generation ChromeOS version, which is stated to be Android-based and codenamed Aluminum OS.
Release date has not been determined yet
There is no official statement yet about when Samsung will introduce Android-based Galaxy Book models.

Google is expected to introduce Android 17 and the new ChromeOS version at the Google I/O developer conference to be held in May 2026.
Following these introductions, it is possible that Samsung will launch its One UI-based laptops before the end of 2026.
Although the company will not abandon the Windows operating system, it aims to offer a different alternative to its users by moving the Android ecosystem to laptops.
