NVIDIA Graphics Card Received AMD Out of the Box

NVIDIA Graphics Card Received AMD Out of the Box

Gigabyte mixed the cooling blocks of GeForce and Radeon graphics cards on the production line. Users encounter misbranded cards.

A rare assembly error in the graphics card world caused the surprise of users. It was revealed that in some graphics cards produced by Gigabyte, the cooling blocks of different series of the brand were accidentally interchanged.

A Reddit user encountered an unexpected situation when he opened the box of the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5060 Ti model he purchased from Canada Computers. Although there was GeForce RTX written on the back plate of the card, there was Radeon written on the side of the cooling block.

Cooling block confusion on the production line

Since Gigabyte uses similar chassis in both NVIDIA and AMD-based graphics cards, these parts fit together physically. Due to this factory assembly error, it appears that a Radeon series cooling part was accidentally mounted on a GeForce card.

A similar situation was reported by another user about five months ago. In that case, there was a GeForce cooling block on a Gigabyte Radeon RX 9060 XT graphics card. This situation strengthens the possibility that parts from two different series were mixed together on the production line.

Both users stated that the graphics cards technically worked as expected and there was no problem with their performance. The fact that the boxes of the cards are closed and do not show any traces of intervention confirms that the error was directly caused by the assembly process at the Gigabyte factory. gigabyteOfficials or technical service units have not yet made an official statement regarding this physical labeling error experienced by users. This situation, which was met with surprise among hardware enthusiasts, once again reveals the importance of quality control stages in production processes. If you encountered a similar situation, would you continue to use this graphics card?

Rare bug in the hardware world

The photos shared by users clearly show that the labels on the cards and the cooling blocks are mixed up. While the cards are identified as the correct model in terms of technical specifications, only the markings on the cooling block that forms the external appearance differs.

Such production errors prove how sensitive graphics card assembly lines are and how a small carelessness reflects on the end user. Both users emphasize that the cards are original and do not contain any modifications.

Although Gigabyte’s use of the same chassis allows parts to be attached to each other, this creates a confusing picture in terms of brand identity. Users state that they are satisfied with the performance of their cards, but this inconsistency in appearance is quite interesting.
