Apple brings the AutoMix feature to HomePod with iOS 27 and HomePod Software 27. Details about the brand new HomePod boost and new AI toggles.
Apple is preparing to strengthen the smart speaker ecosystem with the highly anticipated iOS 27 update and HomePod Software 27 released simultaneously. With this new software version, the company integrates Apple Music’s artificial intelligence-supported AutoMix feature directly into HomePod devices. This feature, which was previously only available indirectly via AirPlay on iOS devices, will now offer a local experience on HomePod. This update, which is planned to be available for general use in the fall, promises a more professional and uninterrupted music experience during music transitions.
Users will now be able to listen to music directly on the device with smart switches, without having to rely on the AirPlay method.
Music Transitions are Improved with AutoMix Technology
AutoMix, included in Apple Music, stands out as an advanced algorithm that analyzes the tempo and tonal harmony of the cuts and mixes them together. With HomePod Software 27, new transition types developed by Apple for this technology are also included in the system. In the currently available HomePod Software version 26, users only had a basic crossfade option between cuts. But the new version takes the music experience in the residential environment to the next level by allowing music to connect to each other more organically.
Original HomePod Models Receive the Update
One of the most curious issues in the technology world was whether the original HomePod model, whose production was discontinued in 2021, would benefit from new software. Apple has officially confirmed that it maintains its support for these devices with the iOS 27 and HomePod Software 27 beta process. This proves that older generation smart speaker owners will continue to benefit from modern artificial intelligence features.
Older generation device owners will not be deprived of the current features offered by Apple.
Users Are Invited to Share Their Experiences
These updates offered by Apple seem to radically change music listening habits in smart home systems. In particular, the AutoMix supplement, which is as good as professional DJ transitions, will make a big difference in home parties or personal listening sessions. How do you think Apple’s such artificial intelligence-focused developments will affect the competition in the smart speaker market?
