Most Popular Graphics Cards on Steam Revealed: Nvidia Still at the Top

Steam, RTX 5060, System, Hardware

Valve has shared the results of its Steam Hardware Survey for September 2026. This new information reveals how the components preferred by gamers in their computer hardware have changed and how the hardware standards in the gaming world have risen.

The activity, especially in the graphics card and system memory sectors, is clearly demonstrated by the Steam Hardware Survey data. The performance of the GeForce RTX 5070 indicates a significant change at the top of the list.

RTX 5070 Takes the Top Spot

The most notable development of September was the GeForce RTX 5070 becoming the most widely used graphics card on Steam. The survey shows that this graphics card is present in 5.86% of the participating systems.

The model in question achieved a significant success by increasing its usage rate by 2.30 points from 3.56% in August. The rise of the RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti models at the top of the list is also noteworthy.

The RTX 5060 model reached a usage rate of 4.20%, while the RTX 5060 Ti model reached 3.87%. The RTX 5060 Ti showed an increase of 1.46 points in one month, while the RTX 5060 increased by 1.22 points.

The total usage rate of Nvidia’s new generation RTX 50 series models reached 18.21%. This rate was approximately 12.93 percent in August, indicating a rapid transition of users to new generation cards.

RAM and Resolution Preferences Are Changing

A significant change has also occurred in Steam users’ system memory preferences. The percentage of systems using 32 GB of RAM increased from 37.45 percent to 42.22 percent.

Thus, 32 GB of RAM became the most common memory capacity, surpassing 16 GB of RAM, which fell to 37.82 percent. In terms of screen resolution, the percentage of systems using 2560×1440 resolution increased from 21.86 percent to 27.04 percent.

Full HD, or 1920×1080 resolution, decreased from 50.52 percent to 47.91 percent. This development proves that Full HD resolution’s dominance on Steam has fallen below 50% for the first time.

Competition Heats Up in the Processor Market

On the processor side, AMD’s rise continues steadily. The usage rate of AMD processors on Steam increased from 45.52% to 47.41%.

Intel’s share, on the other hand, decreased from 54.47% to 52.59%. The fact that the difference between the two companies has narrowed to 5.18 points shows that competition will intensify even further in the coming months.

What hardware do you use in your computer and are you planning an upgrade soon?

According to the September 2026 Steam Hardware Survey results, the RTX 5070 was the most popular graphics card. 32 GB of RAM usage has surpassed 16 GB.
