Microsoft Announces New Surface Models with Snapdragon X2 Processor

Microsoft introduced the new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop models with Snapdragon X2 processor. Here are the technical specifications, prices and prominent details of the new generation Surface devices.

Microsoft introduced the expected new generation Surface hardware to the technology world on June 16. Powered by the Snapdragon X2 processor architecture, the 12th Generation Surface Pro and 8th Generation Surface Laptop models come with innovations focused on performance and artificial intelligence integration. The corporate versions of these devices, whose consumer-focused sales started today, are planned to be released on July 14. Promising a major transformation in both the tablet and laptop segments, Microsoft aims to raise the bar in portable efficiency with its new Snapdragon X2-based devices.

  • The new Surface devices are equipped with 10-core Snapdragon X2 Plus or 12-core Snapdragon X2 Elite processor options.
  • The devices include the Qualcomm Hexagon NPU unit, which offers 80 TOPS performance for local artificial intelligence processes.
  • Surface Laptop models are offered to users with 13.8 and 15 inch screen sizes.
  • For the first time, Surface Pro tablets can be preferred with the optional OLED screen option.

New Surface Models Offer Powerful Hardware Features

Microsoft’s new generation Surface series is based on the Snapdragon X2 processor architecture developed by Qualcomm. These processors are supported by Qualcomm Hexagon NPU, designed especially to manage local artificial intelligence tasks, and promise an impressive processing power of 80 TOPS. While wide range of memory capacity options are offered, starting from 16GB and going up to 64GB, the storage space can be increased up to 1TB.

Snapdragon X2 processors make artificial intelligence-supported processes more efficient in the Windows ecosystem.

Surface Laptop Models Offer Different Screen Options

The new 13.8-inch and 15-inch Surface Laptop models attract attention in terms of both design and performance. The 13.8-inch model is offered for sale at prices starting from $ 1,599 with a 120 Hz screen refresh rate and 201 PPI pixel density. Another notable innovation of the device is the green color option called ‘Jade’. The 15-inch version targets professionals with its sharper screen with 262 PPI and external MicroSDXC card reader.

The OLED Screen Era Begins on Surface Pro Tablets

Surface Pro 12 stands out with its 13-inch compact structure that combines portability and performance. The device, with a starting price of $1,499, comes in black, platinum and sand color options. The most critical hardware change in this generation stands out as the introduction of the OLED panel option. The device, which adapts to the hybrid working environment thanks to its wide-angle front camera with 1440p resolution and Wi-Fi 7 support, promises users a long usage life with up to 15.5 hours of video playback time.

The OLED display option takes the visual experience to the next level for Surface Pro users.
