Meta Launches New Muse AI Tool

Meta Launches New Muse AI Tool

Muse, Users, Company, AI, Secure

Two weeks after signing a massive $18 billion settlement with social media platforms for harming children, Meta announced Muse, its largest consumer-focused AI initiative. Launched Tuesday for users in the US, Muse aims to help users manage their daily tasks and projects. Going beyond chat-based models like ChatGPT, the system can handle processes such as email sending, travel booking, and bill management in person, using the user’s name. The company plans to directly integrate this new technology into users’ daily digital workflows.

Meta has launched Muse, a personal AI assistant capable of performing daily tasks, in the US market.

  • Muse can access users’ various applications, such as email, calendar, and payment systems, and perform physical processes on their behalf.
  • The platform is supported by two different subscription options priced at $20 and $100 per month.
  • The company announced that it uses an isolated virtual machine infrastructure called Muse. Secure VM to ensure the security of information.

Users can control many different platforms, such as health, smart home management, shopping, and music, from a single center through Muse. Meta aims to increase user payment security by using Stripe’s Link technology in this process. Shopify and 1Password integrations are also expected to be included in the system soon.

Muse AI Assistant Supported on Various Platforms

Muse is accessible via web browsers, iOS and Android applications, as well as WhatsApp. The system, which is planned to be integrated into Meta’s smart glasses in the future, is offered free of charge at the basic level. Users can choose paid subscription packages called Power and Maximum for situations requiring intensive use. Muse is designed to manage processes outside the application and can offer more proactive suggestions by learning user habits over time.

Meta Claims to Have Increased Security Measures

The increasing demand for data access by AI assistants brings with it concerns about privacy. Meta states that Muse does not directly access user passwords or payment information, and that information is not shared with advertising systems.

The company claims that all these processes run on a secure virtual machine called Muse Secure VM, isolated from the outside world. Furthermore, the system aims to increase transparency by allowing users to decide which applications to connect to.
However, it is emphasized that these security claims need to be verified by independent experts.

Meta’s Past Raises User Trust

Despite Meta’s technological promises, the company’s past privacy violations and legal troubles with the FTC raise questions about how much users can trust Muse. In particular, the Cambridge Analytica scandal and ongoing legal processes concerning child safety have led to widespread skepticism about the company’s policies.

While Meta offers features such as avatar and name customization to help users establish a personal connection with the assistant, it remains unclear whether this digital loyalty will be enough to improve the company’s image.
