Memory Prices Rising: DDR5 RAM Prices Reach Fivefold

DDR5 RAM prices have hit a record high, increasing fivefold compared to July 2025 levels. We examined the latest situation and its effects in the German market.

Prices of DDR5 RAM kits have reached a remarkable level, increasing by approximately five times compared to July 2025 levels. This sharp rise in the market is making the process quite difficult, especially for users who want to build budget-friendly computers.

Following the short-term price stability observed in April and May, costs rapidly climbed in the following months. As we approach the fourth quarter of 2026, this upward trend in DDR5 memory prices has reached alarming proportions.

DDR5 Price Increase in the German Market

Data shared by 3D Center and obtained from the Geizhals platform reveals that DDR5 memory prices in Germany saw a significant jump in August. While July was recorded as a strong period in terms of market conditions, the August data took this situation even further.

The price index rose from 445% in July to 486% in August. This change indicates that a standard DDR5 RAM kit has become approximately 4.9 times more expensive compared to last year.

High-capacity memory modules, especially 64GB, 48GB, and 32GB, are among the products most affected by the price increase, with double-digit growth rates. Even though there are a few kits unaffected by the price increase, these products are still being sold at a cost of over 400% compared to July 2025 levels.

Impact on Component Costs

This dramatic price increase in DDR5 memory directly drives up the costs of not only desktop systems but also other devices such as laptops, smartphones, small computers, and graphics cards. It is predicted that the PC market could suffer a significant blow if this upward trend in the sector continues.

Demand driven by developments in artificial intelligence continues to push RAM prices up, and it remains uncertain when the market will truly stabilize. What are your thoughts on these rapid price changes in the hardware world?
