iPhone Camera Gets Exciting with Halide Mark III

iPhone Camera Gets Exciting with Halide Mark III

Halide Mark III is on sale. The new update brings Process Zero support, which offers natural shooting without artificial intelligence, built-in professional photo editor Photo Lab and cinematic filters signed by Hollywood.

Halide, one of the most well-known and successful professional camera applications in the iPhone ecosystem, has officially released its long-awaited major update. Halide Mark III, which is available for download after a long preparation process by the developer company Lux Optics, completely changes the portable photography experience.

The new version, which targets professional users who do not like the artificial intelligence interventions of the built-in camera software in Apple’s smartphones and want to obtain more natural and artistic shots, draws attention with the advanced tools it contains.

Thanks to the manual controls it offers at the time of shooting and the new built-in editor structure that allows you to process photos after shooting, Halide Mark III turns smartphones into portable professional DSLR cameras.

  • Built-in Photo Editor (Photo Lab):The Photo Lab feature that comes with the new version now allows users to professionally edit their photos directly within Halide, without needing another application.

  • The Looks and Cinema Simulation:Developed in collaboration with Hollywood’s famous colorist Cullen Kelly, the new HDR-based filter system and cinematic black-and-white mode Chroma Noir add high-level artistic touches to photos with a single touch.

  • Advanced RAW Support and Process Zero:Apple’s Process Zero infrastructure, which completely disables all digital processing and hardening algorithms, now combines with ProRAW and HDR reinforcement to offer a much higher dynamic range and editing flexibility.

Built-in Editing Lab: Photo Lab

One of the biggest innovations that come with Halide Mark III is that the application is no longer just a shooting tool but turns into a full-fledged digital darkroom.

This internal editing editor, which the developer team calls “Photo Lab”, incredibly speeds up users’ post-shooting workflows. Photography lovers can manage the brightness, contrast, exposure and shadow settings on the raw (RAW) images they take, down to the smallest detail, through this panel.

The most striking aspect of this editor is that it is not limited to photos taken only with iPhone. Halide Mark III also seamlessly supports RAW documents produced by world-leading professional mirrorless cameras such as Sony, Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, Leica and Hasselblad in the beta phase.

Photographers who use this application, especially on iPad models that have the advantage of a large screen, can transfer the documents they shoot with their main cameras to the iPad and complete the entire editing process via Halide.

Hollywood Touch: “The Looks” Filter System

In mobile photography, ready-made filters are generally known as digital artifacts that deteriorate the quality of images. However, in order to break this perception, Lux Optics signed a strategic partnership with Cullen Kelly, one of Hollywood’s well-known color experts. The new filter system called “The Looks”, which emerged as a result of this partnership, takes the color stability and toning of photographs to a completely cinematic dimension.

The modes included in the system, such as Valencia, Rembrandt, Nova, Zephyr and Chroma Noir, which is specially designed for black and white enthusiasts, are shaped appropriately according to the structure of the scene. These smart hardware filters perfectly preserve the natural texture and color tone of human skin, especially in portrait photographs, while achieving deep contrast stability in landscape and city shots.

Naturality Without Artificial Intelligence: Renewed Process Zero and Pricing

Apple is making computational photography technologies more aggressive with each new iPhone model. The phones combine dozens of different frames the moment the shutter button is pressed and apply hardening with artificial intelligence. This sometimes results in over-processed and digital-looking photographs.

The highly acclaimed “Process Zero” infrastructure, which Halide introduced recently and has received great acclaim, completely turns off these artificial intelligence interventions and provides the purest, most natural view captured by the sensor.

With Halide Mark III, a new technology called “Tone Fusion” is added to the Process Zero infrastructure. This feature successfully restores the details in the exploding bright areas and disappearing shadows of the photos. Moreover, this pure shooting mode is now accompanied by ProRAW and extended HDR support.

Halide Mark III, which has become completely modern on the interface side and has transitioned to a design that makes it easier to use with one hand, is available on the App Store with its subscription model and one-time purchase options.

Users or active subscribers who previously purchased the application in the Halide Mark II version can switch to this major update completely free of charge. New users can have subscription options such as $10 per month or $20 per year, as well as a lifetime license option by paying $60.
